Call | ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS Lakeshore District 905-728-1020 tournament medal The Orono Leafs played well in the 40th Golden Puck Hockey Tournament in Port Colboum last weekend, but failed to bring home a medal. The team played their positions well, but were unable to pack the puck in the net in the first game against the Kinsmen, which Orono's Global Acoustics lost 3- 0. Orono turned it around in the second game though, shutting out P.C. Oskam 2-0. Derek Snow lit the first score with a nice flying shot flung from the right hache mark, assisted by defenseman Cory Weiss. Oskam turned up the pressure but. Orono's goalie, Andrew Gilbank, with the help of his mighty defense kept the puck clear of the net. The second goal came in the second period; it was a nice play started by Simeon DeVries, to Chad Moore, over to Brian Knapp who executed executed a nice wrist shot to the top corner of the Oskam net. Orono had the same problem in the last game of the tourney as it had in the first -great playing that led to great shots on P.C. Davidson's net, but unable to bury the puck. Gilbank had to work hard on the Orono end, even saving a penalty shot, but Davidson managed managed to get a goal near the end of the second period while on a power play, and one more at the very end of the game, after Orono pulled their goalie in a vain effort to even the score before the buzzer. Playoffs start this week for the Acoustics. -by A.D. by everyone. A vote of thanks went to the ladies in the kitchen headed by Mrs. Donna Scott and friends!
