Friday, March 15, 2019 5 Brooklin Town Crier BHS Student Wins Provincial Sledge Silver Medal Brooklin High's Robert Forbes competed in sledge hockey at the Ontario ParaSports Games held February 8-10. It was the first time Durham Region has hosted the Games. "I love the sport and when I got the opportunity to play during the ParaSport Games, I really wanted to do it," Forbes said. A Grade 11 student with cerebral palsy, he played right-wing on the Ontario North Sledge Hockey team. He's not one to let anything stop him from reaching his goals. In his spare time, he can be found on the ice every Sunday with the Durham Steelhawks as sledge hockey is one of his passions. Forbes added that he loved playing at this level and seeing everyone in the crowd cheering with such passion. "I think we're pretty good, but everyone is," he added. Their first game was against Ontario East, which ended 0-0. From that point onward, his North Ontario squad got rolling and finished the tournament as silver medalists.
