The deputation from the Trade and Labor Congress waited upon the Government at Uttawa lately and urg- ed legislation on the following subjects, First--That the first Monday in Sep- tember of each year should Ue made a statutory public holiday to be known as Labor Day. Segotid-- Urging the establishment of 3 cent passenger rates per mile on | all railroads in the Dominion. Third-- Urging days' drawal of deposite in the Post Office Savings Bank. Fourth---Making it incumbent upon abolition of three notice necessary for the with- all contractors for Dominion public works to pay the union rate of wages and to observe the local hours of labor. Fifth--Protesting ngainst the suspen sion without pay of printers in the Gov: ernment printing burean while civil servants are on their holidays.
