A very sad fatality occurred near Mr. Samuel Moon, a highly respected resident, was engaged sinking a large stone on. Mr. Snyder's farm. He had dug a deep hole beneath the boulder, and was still at work, when part of the stone, 'which seems to have been eracked in two, fell in apon him and crushed him beneath its weight. He was alone in the field at the time; and before he was discovered, and help brought, life had fled. 'Great sympathy is felt for his wife and fimily thus snd- denly bereaved. U. already support one niissionary in the luniber camps and have done so for a number of years, but-the work has so increas ed that another in the field is necs essary, and as our Union has to contribute its share, it has taken the above means to raise it. Don't forget the date--June igth Cartwright Council The regular monthly meeting of the Cartwright Council was held in the hall at Blackstock on Monday, June 3+d, Reeve McLaughlin presid- ing and all the members being pres ent, Minutes of last meeting were read and upon motion confirmed. A communication was presented from J. R Ferguson, Pathmaster on Road Div No. 14, asking for a [liberal grant to be expended upoa that Division, also asking where gravel should be purchased. Mr. Jas, G. Marlow, Sec. of Trustee Board 8. 8. No. 5, wrote on behalf of the Board, asking for a {grant of $100.00 towards teacher's |ealary. Upon motion of Councillors Jobb and Byers this request was granted, Mr. H. Hooey offered Council some sticks of cedar which he had on band for culverts.
