Misses Flossie Medd and Lillie Shier were obliged to remain in Sonya Sunday on account of the rain, Utica Miss Eva Miller, of Sunderland, is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Mac Beare. Mrs. Sonley, of Manchester, spent Saturday with Mrs. Frank Sonley. D. W. Macdonald, of Brooklin, and Master Edgar, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. E. Kendell. Mr. E. J. Walsh, of Pickering, cal- ling on friends one day last week. Quite a number from here attended the Anniversary Services at Epsom on Sanday. Mr. George Ward has had his house painted during the past week. Mr. and Mrs, Clarence Gall and baby, of Uxbridge, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Harper. Seagrave Rev. Mr. Johnston goes to Confer- ence this week. Mrs. Johnston will spend the week with friends in Lind- say. Mr. and Mrs. John H. Brown spent Sunday with friends in Eldon. Mr. C. Sleep has started work on his new residence. Mr. Wes. Frise is improving his property by erecting a new fence, Mr. Stan. Wooldridge, his brother Edgar, wife and child, motored to Toronto and Hamilton on Sunday. A demonstration of Boy Scout work is to be held in Elgin park, Uxbridge, to-morrow evening, June 4th, at 8 p.m. The demonstration will be in front of the grand stand. . Electric lights are being installed: The band will be present and will have charge of the musical part of the program. Demon- strations in camp-making, camp cook- ing, marching, signalling by semaphore and heliograph, tilting, fire rescue work, etc., will be given. ~The dreadful sandbanks on the farms of Mark Linton and C. John- ston, down the 7th Con, of Uxbridge township, were scenes of great activity for the greater part of last week, when Prof. Zavits of Toronto was engaged in reforestering some 'of this bad land. About nineteen men assisted in the work of planting some ten thousand Scotch and Red Pines. This action] is, the result of the investigation made some short time ago and 'cannot be too highly commended.
