McConnell, Sec- Treas, Port Perry, Ont. i en {me ee Scugog Although Wednesday, July 1, was rather dark and cloudy a goodly crowd attended the annual picnic of Centre and Maple Grove Sunday School. Mr. O. Williams and Mr. Ww. Crozier looked after the ice cream and refresh- ment stand, and were ably assisted by Mrs.0. Williams and Mss. J. Plowman and it was the expressed thought of all present that it pays to put pleasant, attractive people in stand and these people seemed duly qualified, by the way the money rolled in. There were a large number of races, which both boys and girls seemed to enjoy, even some of the larger girls who are out of practise ran a very exciting race just to show some of the young men that the Scugog girls do not grow old quickly. Some of the races run were Jockey. Wheelbarrow, and Three- legged race; by both girls and boys and a great number more too numerous to mention After the ball games, lunch was served by the ladies 'and this part of the picnic gvery one seemed to join in very heartily, Visitors for 1st fuly--Mr. A. We all wish to extend a hearty wel- come to our new minister and wife, Mr and Mrs Buckler. Scugog's loss is Seagrave's gain, in losing our very popular teacher Miss E. E. Bruce, who labored among our scholars five days per week and taught them again on the Sabbath, She will also be missed by the choir of which she was a member. Mrs Thos. Clark is at present in Bowmanville hospital having had to undergo an operation for appenicites. Pleased to report favourable progress Maple Grove choir has been greatly improved by the help of Mr B. Tarrant Some other members of the choir who had to absent themselves through throat trouble have been missed greatly hope to see them in their old places soon. A goodly crowd welcomed the new minister at both morning and evening services among those, some familiar faces who have been lost to our view, hope to see them every Sunday again.
