Mr Jas . Carnegie was voted to the chair and]. after a few preliminaty remarks, ex- plained that the chief number of the program was to do honour to our esteemed member who is about to . leave town. About 20 members were called upon to make speeches: each accepting his part with alacnty and dignity and testifying to the unassum- img and faithful support given to the Bowling Club by Mr Gerow. Much sorrow was expressed that so able a citizen, eminent in the municipal pros- perity of Port Perry and faultless as a neighbour, should withdraw from our town and each boped that Mr Gerow might later on, see his way clear to return to live in Port Perry. The chairman presented a beautiful gold- headed cane, suitably inscribed and : an honorary life membership to Mr Gerow amidst the singing of - "He's a Jolly Good Fellow." The recipient was completely-taken by "surprise, however, he rephed in a well worded and neat speech, that his best efforts were always for the Bowling Club and Port Perry and that no present could equal to him, the kind words of appreciation and i ct that had been uttered by the "various speakers. Mr Gerow con- cluded with a most grateful acknow- ledgement of the honour and sincere thanks for such marked recognition Games were indulged in and before the meeting concluded, the. bers eatireled the hall, 'with'cla ed hands and sang "Auld Lang Syne."
