ISRNATYY onom S AN EXCITING TIME An auto ran into the 10 p.m. "bus" on Saturday, and tore the gasoline tank on the side of the vehicle, The accident occurred opposite Beare Bros! garage. By the time the bus came to a stop about 15 gallons of gasoline ran out into the ditch and down into the culvert. At. this moment somebody either by accident, or purposely, set fire to the .gasoline and thére was a glor- 'ious blaze and a scurrying for safety, The debris in the culvert caught fire and part of it was blown out of the other end of the culvert, which sug- gests one way of cleaning out these drains--=however--"safety first." The car which colilded with the bus was badly damaged in front, the axle fenders, ete, being bent. It is difficult for most people to guage the size of the bus which is very much larger than the ordinary auto, Evening subject: * = Earlier in the evening there had been two other accidents--one at Manchester and one at Greenbank. At Manchester, a couple of men, who had too much liquor on board, ran into a family party returning home. The intoxicated men were ar- rested, brought to Port Perry, and fined $100 and costs, and ordered to pay all damages to the other car. It is going to be necessary to in- crease the punishment for misde- meanors of this kind. * * * At- Greenbank -an auto driver lost control of his car, ran into the ditch and had to be brought to town to be sewn up.
