They have made 121,000 Ibs. in four months ending August 31st, which means an average of about 1100 Ibs. every working day, an increase on the previous year's business. - The ice cream factory is also do- ing well, the output being about twice that of last year. It is pleasing to note that this very efficient business is prospering.' ----0 00 THE SCHOOL Work is going along nicely at the school. The footings aré all in for the foundation. The forms are being made for the cement that is to be put in before puting up the brick- work. The brick and tile have arrived and other material is on hand, 000 HIGH SCHOOL NOTES On Tuesday, Sept. 7, school opened with a bang (of a door) and got away with a flying start when every- body enjoys a holiday the first after- noon. There were many new faces and as many empty seats whose former owners have gone out to beat the world or, if they were young ladies, their husbands. We wish the former but not the latter. The bell summoned int8 school many |. curious pupils all anxious to get a first glimse of the new teachers who were, perhaps, just as curious to get a glimpse of them. Let us hope that both of their first impressions were good, Things of note in the various forms are as follows--Fourth Form boasts a decided female majority, about six to one so we think that in event of a lady being put up as a candidate at any election only one sixth of the ladies will be allowed to vote for fear of a overwhelming majority in favour of the lady candidate; Third Form also has a majority in the fair sex, \ 'but they have another thing in their 'which has a habit of parading ftself in tedious moments in the 'school day. Dorthea made a creditable pass to the Senior Fourth Class. The Board, of Education passed a resolution that the Penny Bank sys- tem be discontinued. Withdrawal slips may be obtained from the teachers. It would be good business for each pupil having a balance, to open a personal account with the Bank. Having consideyed the appeal of Helen Clark for an Entrance certifi- cate, the Entrance Board have grant- ed the appeal and issued the certifi- cate. A retrospect of 12 years of En- trance work in Port Perry produces the following record: Candidates who wrote 195; candidates who re- ceived certificates 177--average 94 per cent. In this period there were recélved 54 honours; 8 first prizes, 2 second prizes and 2 third prizes. In 1919 all the honours that were given at this centre, came to Port Perry rangement of promotion on term work; the 'cream of the class do not to win the higher prizes. The prize winners in the Fourth Form for the year just ended are: Senior Class, highest standing in History, Douglas Nasmith: Junior Class, highest standing in History, Robert Moray. The prizes were do- McLean, "a fountain for the senior, and an Eversharp pencil for Junior, The inners of prizes donated by the Board of Education are; For eandi- date who did not write on Entrance examination, Valde Hortop; for the candidate who did write, Beverley Smallman. . sl WOW Voce.
