SEAGRAVE NEWS On Wednesday night of last week about twenty-five of our young ple gathered together at the h Mr. and Mrs. L. Scott for wha oe of ed out to be a real surprise party in honour of Miss Dorothy Weighy! whose birthday it happened to Dorothy was really taken by surprise, as no little bird had even whispered a word which made events all the more enjoyable. A social evening was spent in games etc. After which a dainty luncheon was served by the young ladies present. A birthday cake on which were eighteen little colored candles adorned the centre of the table. ~The many pretty gifts that Miss Wright received bespoke of the high esteem in which she is held by her many friends, The Young People's League held a skating party on Tuesday evening of this week on our rink returning to the Sunday School room where lunch was served. Mr. Aubrey Moon received a very painful injury when he had the liga- ments of his right knee torn while playing hockey, and will be out of the gome for the rest of the season. Mr. and Mrs. Orval Boe of Bow- manville were visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Haywood Short on Sunday last. Miss Blight of Toronto spent the week end with her parents. Mr. W.C. Clarke was in Toronto for a few days recently. Mr. George Mark is visiting with his daughter Mrs. A. Bruce. in imi ONTARIO FARMERS IN FAVOR OF WHEAT POOL MARKETING. Thousands of farmers in South- western Ontario, after frank and free discussion of the co-operative pool system of marketing grain crops, have accepted it. The result was that control of export grain had the operation of the pools had meant | 1 at least 25¢. a bushel more for the] o farmer on his wheat than he would have got had there been no pool, and he assured Ontario farmers that it would mean more money for 'them on their crops. : Greater attention to the market- ing end of the farming indystry was urged by Mr. Morrison, who spoke of experiences he had had as a young farmer, then as a foreman in a city enterprise, and later again as a farm- er. He pointed out that men in all other callings were well organized, and that the farmer was the only one| who had to ask "What will you give me?" After referring to the suc- cess of the pools in Western Canada, and the Egg Pool in Ontario, he said he was convinced that an Ontario Grain Pool would be of great benefit to the farmers of Ontario. President Gilroy saw in the growth of pool organizations an institution near future would be world wide. He President Burnell was witness, J. T.
