Port Perry, Oct. 1--The campus to- day was the scene of a very exciting game when Uxbridge High School nosed out Port Perry 9-7. Both teams played very good ball and were quite evenly matched. Norton, for Ux- bridge and Crozier, for Port Perry, both pitched good ball and either de- served to win. , Norton was very well supported by the Uxbridge fielders. Port Perry took the lead in the first inning when McMillan's terrific homer drove in three runs. They were still ahead in the third inning but in the fourth, four Uxbridge men crossed the plate and put them in the lead. McMillan and Crozier were the lead- ing batters for Port while "Big Bill" Moore led the Uxbridge batters. Hal Burton provided the feature of the game when he made a snsational catch of a liner to second. Port Perry was minus the two regulars, Jerry Williams and Bert Collacutt, but Ar- nott VanNest and Hugh Nind, both new comers, filled the vacancies well. The score i inning was: Uxbridge . ..201100 2-9 Port Perry , v+..308010 0-7 Batterigs--Norton 'and Burchell ~ Crozier and Harris. Umpires--MecKenzie and Gemmel. These chic Showroom in the FORD NEWS In the month of August Ford Motor Company, Limited, produced 13,0456 cars for use in Canada and overseas territories. This figure as announced by W. R. Campbell, vice president and treasurer, surpasses any previous monthly production and averages 541 cars a day for the 24 working days of the month, "In August 1927 we were not oper- ating and the companies producing cars in Canada for domestic and over- seas use turned out 12,626 cars" ex- plained Mr. Campbell. "That we have produced as many and more of the new Ford in the same month this year is ample evidence not only of the H.| popularity of our product but of the healthy business conditions through- out Canada. Our export shipments of Model A's during August this year are within 200 of the total exports of all other makes in same month last year When 4918 were shipped over- seas." and June give the new Ford a 1000 car majority over its nearest com- petitor. "When the new Ford was introduced in December of last year its reception designated the demand that the new car would enjoy. But to build any fine product takes time and to build an entirely new fine product requires just that much more time. Manufacturing standards were set in our factory" say Mr. Campbell, "and irrespective of the intense demand for the new rar only that rate of produc- tion was tolerated, commensurate with perfect workmanship. Only this painstaking care in the manufacture of the new car makes its outstanding performance possible." ever to be turned out in a single day is an accomplished fact indicates that production is catching up with orders. "Ford dealers are now able to satisfy the insistent demands for the many buyers who have waited patiently for a long period of time. While it is true that orders for certain models are still in excess of production, it does not hold for all models, some of which can be obtained immediately and others within a few days follow- ing the placing of the order." "The Ford Motor Company of Can- ada is fully aware of the forbearance of many who have waited months for delivery of their cars and takes this opportunity of expressing it appre- ciation of the confidence that has been shown in its product." Mr. Campbell was sure that this confidence had been well placed and said that the best recommendation for the car was the long list of satisfied owners that was growing at the rate of about 400 a day in Canada. % "We have more than 10,000 em- ployees actually engaged in producing the new car in Canada. Present schedule indicates that we will con- tinue to exceed our former peak pro- duction throughout the balance of the year." CARNEGIE-DAY MOTOR SALES. Ford Dealer, Port Perry. ee (orien.
