Mr. Ernest Boys has been busy for the past week or more removing an old barn situated on the south fifty acres of his farm. Mrs. Arthur Crosier was a visitor in Oshawa last Saturday. At the school on St. Valentine's day a post office was installed by teacher and pupils for the day, which was highly enjoyed. They all received many beautiful Valentines, Quite a number were made by the teacher and scholars often showing some splendid talent and 'work in art. At four o'clock lunch was served. Friday morning, February 7th, at the age of seventy-five years, after an illness of two wees duration. The de-' ceased has lived in this neighborhood for the past thirty years operating a! grist mill. During that time, owing to his bright and genial personality he won for himself a large number of friends in the vicinity. A gloom was cast over the com- munity on Sunday } came of the death of a highly re- spected resident of Zion, Mariposa, in the person of Mrs. Norman Osborne. She endured her long weeks of suffer- ing with hopefulness and patience. mrs. Osborne's death is a severe loss to the community as well as to her family, as she was an active member in the Ladies' Aid and Zion Church. She leaves to mourn her loss, her sorrowing husband and three children, Mansell, 'Herman and Lulu, to whom sincerest sympathy is extended in their bereavement. Miss Cassie Kitson of Lindsay Col- legiate Institute spent the week end at her home here. Miss Gertrude McFarlane spent the week end with Valentia friends. A good crowd attended the church services and Sunday School on Sun- day. The weather being so decidedly cold,. there was not as large a crowd as usual.
