ZION. ~~ Mr. Geoige Eggleton spent the k-end at his home in Grasshill. Messrs. Goodhand and Herman Osborne visited with friends in Osh- wa a few days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Moase, of To- ronto, spent a few days with friends in this vicinity during the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Thornton, of Salem, spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Wilson. Mr. Wilbert Savinac visited with hig mother Mrs. George Savinac, who is ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Garfield Heatlie, of Little Britain. Although King Winter is still stay- ing with us we feel that spring is on its way as a number in this vicinity have their incubators going and are looking forward to baby chicks. We feel that this is a sure sign of spring. A number from this vicinity spent Saturday in Lindsay. Miss Alma King, nurse-in-training, at Peterboro hospital, spent a few days with friends here. One of the worst storms in many years passed over here on Sunday, snowing and blowing, causing the snow to pile up in every corner. The wind also has been blowing and drift- ing for most all the week, leaving the roads almost impassable. Quite a number have had their horses down and had to be helped out. One man with a load of hogs was an hour and a half going a half mile. Then he changed horses and made the trip. The mail man has also had a hard time in trying to get through. We hope for better weather again soon. A social half hour was spent and all re- tyrned home before dark. Myrtle Station Mrs. James Dickson spent a few days recently with Oshawa friends. The school children had a holiday the latter part of last week, owing to the illness of the teacher. Mr. Ed. Cooper, of Toronto, was in the village for the week end. A gloom was cast over the village when the word was received here that Mrs. Jess McClintock had passed away at her home near Hamilton. = Mrs, McClintock had been in poor health for some time. She was held in high esteem by her many friends here. She always had a smile and a kind word for every one that she met. We ex- tend our sympathy to her husband and two sons.
