Purdy, and Mrs. I. R. Bentley attended the graduation exercises of the Training School for Nurses, Oshawa General Hospital, on Tuesday evening, June 7th. Mrs. J. E. Jackson and Mrs, Arthur Brock attended the Alumni Dinner at thie Ontario Ladies' College, Whitby, this week. Mrs. Brookes, of Montreal, and Mrs. McConnell, of Lindsay, were the guests of their sister, Mrs. G. De- Shane, over the week-end. CENTENARY OF VICTORIA COLLEGE A centenary celebration of the lay- ing of the corner stone of the old Victoria College was held in Cobourg. Special services were held on Sunday. Rev. Chancellor Wallace was speaker in the morning, and Rev. R. T. Rich- ards, preached the sermon in the evening. On Tuesday there was a noon day dinner. This was well attended by former students of Victoria, with their wives and friends. ~The main addresses at the dinner were given by Dr. Workman and Judge Huycke. The public meeting at the church was well attended, and was addressed by ex-Chancellor R. P. Bowles, Justice Riddell, and Sir Wm. Mulock. Hon. L. Macaulay, was chairman. A pleasing feature of the day's ceremonies was the decoration of the graves of Rev. Samuel Nelles and Dr.' Burwash. Sir Wm. Mulock laid the wreath on the grave of these great church men, who were his former per- sonal friends, After the public service a reception was extended to the former students and friends of Victoria. It was an ideal game from begin- ning to end; showing clean sports- manship throughout, and as usual, providing plenty of excitement for the spectators. Both teams seemed to be well-matched, although from the way the home team played at first, it look- ed like a real victory; towards the "end Blackstock stepped in and won the game with a score of 12-9. The next game scheduled will be held at the High School grounds on Friday night of this week between Myrtle and Port Perry. Come on out and give the home team some en- couragement in their sport.
