Just take your bicycle to the Police station in Port Perry (on Old Simcoe Street, just north of Durham Road 8) and the serial number and your name will be recorded. If your bike is lost or stolen and later recovered and turned over to the Police, they can match the serial number and return it to you. A police spokesman said many bikes turned in can't be returned to the owners because they can't be identified. The bikes eventually end up in the Police auction.
