Chris pitched the complete game victory for his 17th win: of the season against 4 losses. He had 13 strike outs and allowed just 3 hits despite having difficulty finding his rhythm in the early innings. The Legionaire's offense in this encounter was led by Ryan M and Jon Froats with 2 hits each. Singles were hit by Ryan Fraser, Darryl, Chris and Ryan McQuade. Scugog Lumber 1-0, to avenge their loss in the Festival Days gold medal round. The first half was kept score- less but Kyle Geer was able to knock one in the second half, assist- ed by John Tanti. Rhona Scott, Stewart Medford and Taylor Ramsey shared the shutout. Good netminding from Matthew Hertzberg and Cheryl Barchuk kept the game within reach for Scugog Lumber but despite constant pres- sure from Allison Rudking and Duncan Pringle, they were unable to score Also on Tuesday, the Framer's Gallery shut out Slinger Transport 2-0. . Todd Lance and Derek Goreski were the goal scorers, and both Sean Murray and Matthew Roth put in an excellent effort. Despite the loss, Jake Pilkey, Emily Davis and Cindy Howard all played well for Slinger Transport. Technique Drywall defeated the struggling Fowler, Davies team by a score of 3-0. Leo Taillon and Nelson Langmaid scored for Technique, and Katelyn May was as fast as lightning. Despite the loss Daniel Shore and Brook MacKenzie played well in net for Fowler, Davies. Celine Batterink and Ashleigh Phoenix were kept busy in + their defensive positions. On Wednesday night, Tyler Cunningham had a very big game for Subby's Submarine, and led his team to victory against Manvers 1. Tyler scored 4 goals, and Danny Halward notched one. Cameron O'Connor had a strong game as well. Darrel McGrath threatened offensively for Manvers 1 many times, and Timothy Gilbank was tough on defense. Nuts About Chocolate won their game against Manvers 2 by default and had a friendly practice match. SQUIRT SOCCER REPORT On July 29 in Squirt Soccer action Rent and Save/Cinemax just edged out Haugen's Chicken Barbecue 4-3. Adam Peacock, Justin Moffat and Timothy Motuzas were all strong on offense, with Justin and Timothy picking up 2 goals apiece. Timothy scored the winni . goal on a penalty kick. Melissa Mulder and Jason Wannamaker played superb defensive ball, Brady Gray in net had to make many more stops to preserve the win. Haugen's team played a good, strong game with 2 goals being scored by Peter Konstaninopoulos, and 1 by Lindsay Carr. Stacey Cunningham led the way with a hat trick and Julie-ann Domik evened out the scoring with one as well. Timothy Donohue was strong on offense, and assisted on two of the goals. Marta Van Camp picked up an assist as well. John Dutka made it tough for Manvers with good defense and James Colton got the shut-out. Adam and Zach Plowright shared the netminding duties for Manvers, and stopped many more than they let in. Zach Goff looked dangerous on offense, and Derek Shasta played solid defense. Flieler"g Petro-Can also shut out IGA by a 6-0 score. Pat Lewis, Chris Wygerdt, Joseph Kozlinsky and Ryan O'Leary all scored, and Liam McKeracher had two goals. Good goaltending by Sandy Farquharson shut down the opposi- tion in the second half. Nice position playing by Erin Edwards allowed great job on defense! Port Perry Auto Glass 'Stingrays' have yet to be defeated, and they continued their dominance against Raglan Welding, winning 5-3. Kevin Lukas scored a hat trick, and Matthew K i and Sp Churchill each scored once. For Raglan Welding, goals were scored by Wesley Langmaid, Gregory Jeffrey and Kevin Robbins, with 2 assists by Michael Anderson. Kara Olsen and Jordan Beelby made some superb defensive plays to keep the game within reach. 9-10 MITES BASEBALL The Port Perry Stars finished the season with a 17-12 win over DJ Taylor. Shooting star Mark Walout scored with a terrific three run homer. Andrew Marsh sparkled with a double play on short stop, by catching a fly ball and tagging a run- ner headed for third. Burke her to turn the ball around several times, and Boston Kowalczyk made some good defensive moves. The coaching staff of the Lion's Club noted greatly improved play this week, in particular from Richard Tracey, but they still fell to the stronger Manvers 2 team, 2-0. Chase Charland scored the first goal for Manvers, assisted by Ashley Notenboom. 3 Brandon Spearing made 'Some good defensive plays, with some good strong kicks. Jessie Worden did her part by keeping the ball in the Lion's Club end. Ashley Notenboom scored the second goal on a very hard kick from inside the Lion's zone, that just coasted over the goal line. Dilan and Jamie had some lantastic defensive moves to keep the Lion's Club off the score sheet. Trader Sam's played Brian's Towing to a 3-3 draw. Trader Sam's put forth a strong effort, coming back from a big 2-0 gap. Goals were scored by Clayton Gilmore (2) and Katie Bierness. Good defensive work by Jenfia~ Phoenix and Sam Chiusolo. Good work, team, and good luck in the tournament! MOSPORT By Nelson Hudes Another action packed night of stock car racing took place on August 1st at Mosport International Speedway. It was Erin Maxx night and it was a very entertaining evening. The drivers were full or surprises as they put on one hell of a show with lots of spins, crashes and hard charges. All four regular divisions of Street Stock, Late Model Sportsman, Late Model and Thundercars took to the track in their usual convincing style. In the early evening heats, there was some tremendous racing going on with lots of passing, and battles for the lead as well as some interesting battles further down the field. The fans were also treated to a special event as a Ladies Race was scheduled this week and it was'a great race to watch (the ladies races or girlfriends of the men who regu- larly compete at Mosport). Donna Smith of Pickering, who was running second throughout the six lap feature race was given the win when the leading car unfortu- nately hit the wall on the second last lap. In Street Stock division, Andy Warbutton of Oshawa was the big winner of the evening as he drove brilliantly to capture a eat race as well as the feature event. Nobody could challenge him as he put on a fantastic show of driving skill throughout the race. In second place was Joe Maletie of Oshawa who tried real hard to catch Warbution but couldn't. And, in third place, was Bob Frank of Omemee. In Sportsman Division, Randy Slack of York showed that he is a real contender in the auto racing world as he expertly showed his driving techniques to all who came out this week. Slack won two heats in the early evening and then went on to capture the feature event as well. He was in real command all evening. In second place in the fes- ture was Alex Jordan of Mississauga and in third place was Neil Fair of Ancaster. Fair, too, won a heat earli- er in the evening. In Late Model division, Joe Concalves of Concord was the fea- ture event winner while Wayne Keeling of London was second and Kino Montanari of Stouffville was third. In Thundercar division, Davy Todgham of Oshawa won the feature race while Rob Deninger of Toronto was second and Pops Sullivan of Whitby was third. Next weekend (August 8th) is Snap-on Tools Night. The marriage of Tammy Lyn Rank and Richard David Cyril Avery took place at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Milverton, Ontario on May 16, 1992. Tammy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Rank, Monkton, Ontario and Richard is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Avery, Blackstock, Ontario. On June 5, 1992, Richard and Tammy both graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Degree. Tammy and Richard reside in Guelph, Ontario. Andrea Bailey and Jeff Byers were united in marriage on Friday, May 1, 1992 at St. Marks United Church in Peterborough. Rev. Robert Root offi- ciated the candlelight ceremony. The bride is- the daughter of Ron and Erma Bailey of Peter- borough. The groom is the son of Jim and Barbara Byers of Blackstock. Following a reception at the Navel Hall, Peterborough, Andrea and Jeff enjoyed a honeymoon to the New England States and are now residing in Deep River.
