[SY Scugog Cllizen -- Tuesday, August 18, 1992 - 19 _& 9-10 Mites Champions In the 9-10 Mites Division, Saintfield Machining had to work hard to defeat Flieler's Petro Can for the Angels win over Stellars The Scugog Angels got back into the win column Sunday as they handed Oshawa Stellars a 3- 2 defeat in Durham Ladies Fastball League action. Both teams put on a fine dis- play of fastball in this game which zipped right along and was com- pleted in one hour and 20 min- utes. The Angels started things off when Tracy Smith drew a walk, stole second base and scored on a double from McConnell for a 1-0 lead ) In the second inning, Lisa Best tripled, Brenda Elford walked, then stole second. The second run came when Best crossed the plate on a wild throw from second base. Stellars got one back in the 4th on a hit batter and two singles, and they tied it in the Sth with a lead-off single, a fielders choice and another single. Jackie Dempster helped Angels get the winning run as slapped a two-out single, stole second and was driven home on a triple off the bat of Kim Stewart. In Cobourg last Thursday night, Angels came home on the short end of 9-6 score Cobourg scored two in the first, then opened a 7-0 lead, before the Angels got one in the 4th and three in the Sth to get back in the game. Julie Dempster had a perfect night at the plate, going four for four, including a home run, and Nancy McConnell had three hits in four trips to the plate. Angels will be in action at this Sunday night (Aug. 23) but some rain-out games may be scheduled as well. Angels currently are in 6th place in in the eight team league with 19 points on eight wins, 11 losses and three ties.
