The Trader Sam singers edged The Office gang by a mere six points Council to review spraying Scugog Township council will be taking a hard look at the weed spraying in public Parks and Recreation committee chairman Marilyn Pearce said Monday that parks staff have been asked to prepare a complete report gn weed spraying and a decision on any changes will be made before next spring. Councillor Pearce said the Township has received numerous complaints about weed spraying in public parks from people who have health problems and from others who are concerned generally about the environmental impact. And in parks in subdivisions, residents living nearby expect the Township to control dandelions so they don't spread to lawns. Alternative methods of weed ° control such as increased aeration and fertilizers are already being tried in Palmer and Birdseye Parks this fall. Or the strength of weed spray could be diluted, she said. The Township spends about $3,000 each year on weed spraying in public parks. Any cut-backs would be "for environmental reasons, not financial," said councillor Pearce. Many municipalities have banned weed spraying in public parks, but councillor Pearce said some are re- thinking this policy because weeds are taking over and' destroying the turf.
