~ Tuesday, January 5, 1093 pa Great tournament effort by those Doors The 8cugog Overhead Doors Peewee B team hosted a tournament on Tuesday December 29 and battled hard for three undefeated games to win it all. Game one saw action between Whitby and the Doors and our guys came out flying scoring three big goals in the first period leaving the opposition in a daze. However, the Doors men obviously felt this game would be a push over and settled in to second gear in the second period and guess what... you are right! Whitby .came out looking much stronger and scored three goals themselves with the Doors finally answering back to end the period 4-3. Period three proved to be an exciting effort on both sides with goalie Shane Savage giving up only one more goal after a number of big saves. The good guys scored another ending the game with a big first win of 6- * Goals were dcored by Jeremy Gibson (3) and Ryan Puckrin (2) with assists going to Gibson (1), Puckrin (2), Halligan (2), [oF IIR 3 TeRSTol¥e ole NO TIFZeN] for Service Directory Rates for 3 Month Terms VanShelven (1), Skerratt (1), McCreary (1) and Hobbes (1). A great effort by Puckrin and Gibson. Game two had the Doors matched up well with a strong team Chinguacousy (a Brampton area team) and the Port men learned a whole new lesson in what hooking and high-sticking is really about. Hopefully this is a lesson they will not remember. The entire first period saw great action back and forth with goalie Shane Savage coming up with his usual big stops only to be matched by his opposing goal tender. The Doors had their hands full with these guys but re not about to give a single inch. They matched hit for hit, rush for rush and came up with two goals in the second, both by Aaron Levy with assists going to Edwards (1), McCreary (1), and Puckrin (1). Levy's two goal show was matched by their opposition ending the period 2-2. Period three proved to be the most exciting action of the day with both teams ending in a well deserved tie 2-2 and was all Port needed to advance them into the A Championship game against Whitby, the team they had beaten earlier. The championship game between the Doors and Whitby should have been a good match up but the Doors came out onto the ice fired up and determination was written all over each player's face. Unfortunately for Whitby, these guys decided it was time to play the kind of hockey they are capable of playing...winning hockey. Through the entire first half of the season they have battled and lost numerous games by a margin of one or two goals when they should have won. This tournament was their big chance to end 1992 as winners and that they did. Port showed no mercy as they peppered 11 goals passed two Whitby goalies with Shane Savage barricading the net allowing only 3 goals. Aaron Levy led the attack with 3 goals with others going to Puckrin (2), Jamieson (2), Hobbs (1) Halligan (1), VanShelven (1), and McCreary (1). Assists went to Puckrin (4), McCreary (4), Jamieson (2), Moynes (2), Halligan (1), Gainey (1), Levy (1), VanShelven (1), Tindall (1) and Skerratt (1). Congratulations to the Doors for the "A" Championship win and to Aaron Levy for a big effort in all three games winning the M.V.P award. Special mention also goes to Jeremy Gibson and Ryan Puckrin for the outstanding effort they too displayed.
