There is a possibility that the new diamonds north of the arena may be available for play this summer and consequently 'Squirt Head Coach Dave Dalton has officially applied to the Ontario Amateur Softball Assoc. To host the All-Ontario Squirt Championships for 1993. This would be a great way to launch Scugog"s newest sporting complex and bring in some tourist trade to Scugog. Let's hope the decision at the OASA general meeting will be a "Yes"! As in other years the Port Perry Minor Softball Assoc. will liaison with Greenbank and Seagrave in organizing softball teams. As always, the more competitive male and female athletes in these areas as well as Port Perry are invited to try out for positions on the All-Stars "Rep" fastball teams that Ctompete 'in provincial playdowns as well as in the York-Durham League. Ball fans will recall that Port Perry and environs have been quite successful over the years and in fact in 1991 the Taylor- Ford Mites team won their All- Ontario divisional Championship and last year were just two wins away from repeating as champions. In fact in 1991 every Port Perry all- star made it to the All-Ontario final tournament. In 1992, the Midget Squad won their All- Ontario Divison Championship and squirts progressed all the way to the Championship Tournament. This year tad the OASA has Jan. 1, 1982 or later 8) t-ball The reorganization of age groups may affect the formats of the younger house leagues and will be decided upon by coaches and conveners after P a change in the age, classifications of the various divisions so as to conform to the International groupings. Another consequence os the age-group changes is that there is now a possibility of forming a "mites™ house league "Select" team that would in addition to their regular league games have an opportunity to play in some tournaments and exhibition games under "fastball" rules and full-windup pitching. The select team would introduce players to higher-level skills that would prepare them for the Mites 'A' All-Stars and other "rep" teams. This year's age classification is as follows: 1) Junior - players born on Jan.1, 1971 or later 2) Juvenile - players born on Jan. 1, 1978 or later 3) Midget - players born on Jan. 1, 1974 or later 4) Bantam - players bern on Jan. 1, 1976 or later 6) PeeWee - players born on Jan. 1, 1978 or later Perry Ladies Club President Laural Gritfen p the Creat! to skip Ellen bson, and her team of Shirley Lee, Marion Laird and Cathy Acerra.
