This 8:00 a.m. head- to-head match next Sunday is bound to draw a crowd of early-morning spectators. Game 1 this week saw a tight battle between the Taylor Aces and the Compton Comets. Although missing a number of "key" Aces, the Taylor gang pulled off a b6-4 victory. Dwayne Bronson and Ken little with 2 goals each and Bart Wagar with a single provided the Ace goals. Bruce Smith had 2 assists prior to leaving on a "league vacation". Single helpers went to Jobb, Compton, Oxley, Dickson and Peters. Game 2 proved to be a "Gambler's delight" as they trounced the Harrison Blazers 9-1. "Doc" Thomson spoiled Gambler goaltender Ray Gibson's bid for a shutout with a third period goal from Suppelsa and Lane. Other then that, it was all Gamblers. Milligan with a hat trick, Fowler with 2 and singles to Forder, Churchill, Jeffrey and Evans put the Gamblers in the first place game next week. Game 4 saw a friendly rivalry between the Fitzgerald Clippers and the Van World Sharks and with a 3-0 bite out of the Sharks by the Clipper squad. This apparently seals a certain Chinese feast between the team sponsors. Ken Harman in his bid for the top goaltending honour, played well to earn the shut out. Clipper goals came from Glazier and Doug MacS At the final buzzer it was Hawks 2, Phantoms 1. "Captain" Callery from Patton and Olsen, and then Tom Patton from Bill VanCamp and Mike Driscoll recorded the Hawk tallies. The single reply from the Phantoms was Bill Bridge from Dave Bourgeois and Milton. Top scorers, Bill Bridge and Bill VanCamp kept each other in check throughout the game.
