ww 24-- Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday, March 23, 1993 =z Well oiled Raiders have Junior C Eagles reeling The Napanee Raiders have grabbed a 2-0 lead in games over the Bowmanville Eagles in the all-Ontario best of seven Junior C quarter final series The well-oiled, smooth skating Raiders took game one in this series Saturday night on home ice by a 6-4 margin and Sunday night in Bowmanville pinned a 6-3 loss on the Eagles. Led by the slick line of Shawn Wansborough, Sean Moore and Chad Parslow, the Raiders got a big jump on the Eagles in Sunday's game, opening a 4-0 lead by the end of the second period. Eagles finally found the scoring touch early in the third period with three quick goals to make it 4-3. But that was as close as they got as the Raiders pulled themselves together to preserve the victory. The Bowmanville scoring came in the first minute of the third as captain Shane Armstrong potted his 17th in post-season play, followed by Dave Stockton with a short- handed effort and Trevor Clapperton Raiders enjoyed a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes on a goal by Parslow. Then linemate Moore converted a nifty two on one break to beat Drew Campbell cleanly early in the second. Wansborough showed why he is a force every time on the ice as tallied twice in the second to give his team the commanding 4-0 lead Eagles looked like they were going to get right back in this one in the third petiod as they made it 4-3 by the mid-point, but Even Robinson poked one past Campbell with less than four minutes to play and then Parslow found the range on the power play with a perfect shot under the cross bar. In Saturday's series opener in Napanee Wansborough netted a pair for the Raiders with singles to Jason Hogle, Mike Longo Evan Robinson and Parslow. For the Eagles who trailed at one time 5-2, goals came from Clapperton, Todd Cannings, Armstrong and Stockton The Raiders went through the regular season with just one loss and one tie. They lost the playoff opener to Picton and it's easy to see why they have such an impressive record. The team is solid in every department. Sunday's game was not a rough and rugged affair, but Raider captain Dean Hoskin levelled Marv Robillard with an open ice check that sent The Community Spirit in Port Perry BACARDI Amber Rum plans to support the Scugog Fire Department Water Rescue Equipment Fund. Frank R.E. stays alive A "gutsy performance" is the only way to describe Saturday's come from behind 4-3 victory by Frank Real Estate over Emmerson Insurance in the Bantam Houseleague Playoffs. Trailing 2-0 almost halfway through the second period, and playing with only nine players, the team got a much needed goal from Steward to narrow the gap at 2-1. Emmerson had ATTENTI gone ahead 2-0 earlier on goals by Daren Kinnunen and Jeff Clarke. The Bruce goal however seemed to ignite the Frank team as they tied the score at 8:59 on a shot from Ian McClean, then went ahead on Randy Palach's breakaway goal. Before themend of the period, Emmerson came back to tie the game on a goal by Dwayne Vanderligt.
