Call 436-5089 Drug bust the largest ever in Durham Region Durham Region Police have arrested four persons and seized marijuana plants worth nearly $1 million after a raid March 16 on two greenhouses on Solina Road, north of Highway 2 between*Oshawa and Newcastle. Members of the Region's drug squad, backed by the tactical unit found about 2,000 plants, some as high as six feet, growing in the two greenhouses when they executed a search warrant just after 5:00 PM. They also confiscated two shotguns (one loaded) three rifles, three automatic C7 military assault rifles and one Uzi machine gun, plus a large quantity of ammunition. Police spokesman Staff-Sgt Sandy Ryrie said the types of weapons found in this raid are of great concern to the force. Four persons were arrested and charged during the raid. Siegfried Ulrich, 64 is facing trafficking and weapons charges. Aaron Ulrich, 22 and Brandon Ulrich 32 are facing the same charges, while 57 year old Lila Ulrich has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. All four live at 3930 Solina Road in Newcastle. Last Friday, Brandon and Aaron Ulrich were released on bail. Siegfried Ulrich was in court Monday for a bail hearing. A police spokesman said last week this was one of the largest single drug seizures in Durham Region. Scugog man faces 2 charges A Scugog Township man was arrested Monday after his vehicle was stopped on Highway 401 by Durham and Metro Police officers.
