WE DELIVER! French teacher at Port Perry High School and arranged a visit to that area. It was through the success of this visit that students from Port Perry went to Lyons last year and were able to attend the Albertville Olympics. The students arrived at PPHS April 13 after a quick two day trip to sight see in New York City. Before meeting their hosts at the end of the day, they saw some sights in Port Perry, thanks to one of Paul Arculus' famous walking tours. And they had the chance to practise some English with some local shop clerks. PPHS principal Ted Morrison hosted a reception at the school library the day they arrived. . During the rest of their time, the French students visited attractions in Durham and southern Ontario, including Toronto and Niagara Falls. They also enjoyed a trip to Wheelies and bowling at Centennial Lanes during free time in the evenings. On April 19, the students and their billets enjoyed a pizza party organized by French Immersion teacher Sophie Lefebvre. They were presented with the book "Out of Darkness Into Light," a history of PPHS by Mr. Arculus. Mlle Hamer feels the visit was a success, saying "it's wonderful that these people bring their language, culture and customs into our homes." Already there are PPHS students making plans for a trip to France this summer and to meet with their new friends. On April 20, the French students visited the Scugog Shores Museum where young French Immersion students from Port Perry acted as guides to show the visitors around this well known attraction. "They left for the trip back to France that same day.
