wp" 6 -- Sougog Citizen ~ Tuesday , May 16,1993 + Sears veteran The Sears Catalogue Store in Port Perry has been purchased by Jim Cole, who has worked for Sears for the last 26 years. Mr. Cole took over the store May 1 and said customers will continue to enjoy the same service, money back guarantees through the fully automatic catalogue ordering which in almost all cases will have the order ready for pick- up within three days. He told the Citizen last week that when the opportunity to purchase the Sears store came up for him, "I didn't hesitate at all" "I feel Sears is the place to be, the future for retail in Canada. Sears is a success and will continue to be," he said. The company is now turning all its catalogue stores over to private owners on a franchise basis, he said. Mr. Cole was born and raised BLACKWATER in Bowmanville and worked 26 years for Sears stores in Oshawa and Pickering as sales manager in several departments - including furniture and mens clothing. Ann Ostafichuk will continue to manage the Port Perry store where she has worked the last 20 years. Along with a full line of in- store appliances, Jim will be opening a mens sportswear section of jeans, t-shirts and slacks. In the fall, he'll be stocking a National Line of mens athletic sportswear. Jim and his wife Lois (a former Port Perry girl) have one son, 19-year old Jason, who will be working in the store until he returns to university in the United States this fall.
