See story. \ 'Chase for points hot at Mosport It's getting down to the wire with only a half dozen Saturday nights to go, the point chase is really heating up in all three regular Mosport International Speedway Divisions, including Street Stock, Late Models and Thundercars. Humpty Dumpty night, July 24, proved to be an awesome night of racing in all three divisions. The competitors showed no signs. of slowing down. The action was intense, and as competitive as when the season started. In Street Stock Division, the Browns of Willowdale picked up where they left off last week (July 17) by taking command of the first two early evening heats. Graham grabbed Heat #1 while Dwight led the assault on Heat #2. Their Streak was halted only temporarily by an all too familiar name around Mosport International Speedway when Andy Warbutton of Oshawa decided he was going té win the third heat, Brown came back like a bat out of hell to take the win in the final heat before the finals. In the feature, some more familiar names ran real well and ended up in victory circle. Joe Malette of Oshawa grabbed the win while Duke Paul, also of Oshawa grabbed second ai ®Glen Fricker of Pickeffng grabbed third. The Face had. lots of good spins and hard" charges: An Late Model Division, there " were four different winners in each of the early evening heats. * They included Gary Mead of Orillia taking Heat #1. Dave Taylor of Port Perry grabbing Heat #2, Rod Sauder, also of Port Perry, capturing Heat #3 and 'Bart Adams, of Oro Station, winning Heat #4. In the feature, Ken Paston of Caledon was unstoppable as he grabbed the win and the victory lap around the track. ( Battling Paston, and trying to ~stay close to him was Sauder, who settled for second and in third was Mead. The race was very competitive, a few bumps and grinds here and there but otherwise very enjoyable to watch. ! If hundercar Division, as was reported last week, "Old Faithful" was at it again. The name Royce Jones of Frazerville seems to be unbeatable in the feature races this year. Ld Well, this week he grabbed another win, while Doug Todgham of Oshawa had to settle for second and Derek Henderson, also of Oshawa, finished third. In the early evening heats, Jones captured Heat #1, Todgham grabbed Heat #2, Bob Kish of Oshawa took Heat #3, while Todgham again grabbed Heat #4. X Racing continues next week, Sdturday July 31, when it is Becker's Night. =" All at Guaranteed Low Prices! wy" Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday, July 27, 1993 -- 25 - Durham East 4-H members on exchange to Manitoba by Heather McCrae Ten 4-H members from the 'Melita District in Manitoba have recently returned home from a nine day exchange visit with affiliates of the Durham East 4-H Club. * The_ purpose for these exchanges is for 4-H members, between 14-18 years, to experience rural life in another part of Canada while making new friends . and having some fun along the way. Shelley Holliday, a leader with the Durham East 4-H Farm Safety and Sheep Clubs made the exchange application to the 4-H Council last year. To make the trip a reality the Club members held their own fundraising projects in the form of cheese sales and car washes and sponsorships were gratefully obtained from Utica/Evergreen Farm Equipment and the Agricultpral Employment Services branch in Port Perry. They summed their visit up as "great, and loved the scenery," although Ontario has "too many hills." They especially enjoyed their visits to Toronto and Niagara Falls. They also feel we're very fortunate, as where they live the towns are few and far between and it's not only an hour's drive to pick strawberries but also it's a 1 1/2 hour's drive to the nearest McDonald's.
