wp" 24 -- Scugog Citizen -- Wednesd b 8 1993 --> Re/Max battles Saintfield for 6-5 victory On August 18, Re/Max Realty played Saintfield at home in Port Perry and in the bottom of the eighth inning scored three runs to win 6-5. To start the first inning Saintfield's first three batters flew out and Remax's lead batter Dianne McC had a double and scored from second on two sacrifice hits by Joan and Nancy to take an early 1-0 lead. In the second inning Remax's pitcher Jennifer had the next two batters fly out and the sixth batter had a single. However, Saintfield's next batter flew out. Remax was unable to score in SPORT STATS III Scugog Mens Slo-Pitch the bottom of the inning and after two Remax was just ahead by a slim margin of 1-0. To begin the third Saintfield had three hits scoring two runs and despite having two hits Remax could not score. After three innings Remax were behind 2-1.-In the fourth, Saintfield had' three more hits scoring another run and in the bottom of the inning Remax's batter Dianne' McC had another double. However, the next three batters could not bring home the run and after four, Saintfield was up 3-1. In the sixth, Saintfield scored another run and Remax were held scoreless, and in the seventh neither team managed to score. In the eighth and final inning Saintfield sent seven batters to the plate. However, Remax's defensive unit went to work and allowed only one run. In the bottom of the eighth inning Remax were behind 5-3. Marg led off with a single, next Deanna had a double and with runners at second and third, Cheryl (who was red hot with two previous singles) connected with a solid double, which tied the game at 5-5. With nobody out, Gerda had a single and the speedy Joan scored from second to make a dramatic come-from-behind victory for the Remax team by a score of 6-5. Offensively Dianne Me hit two doubles, had one walk and scored a run. Joan scored once, Nancy had an RBI, and Donna had one single and scored a run. Debbie T hit two singles, as did Marg, whose hits also resulted in two runs. Gerda, Colleen, Jennifer and Joyce all hit singles. THe other two runs were scored by Deanna, who hit a - single and a double, and Cheryl with a double and two singles.
