The first annual Scugog Snow Flake Festival gets underway this weekend (Jan. 15-16) with a line-up of fun-filled events for the entire family to enjoy. Most of the activities for the Festival will take place on Lake Scugog at Port Perry and in the waterfront parks. The opening ceremonies are scheduled for 1:00 PM Saturday at the gazebo in Palmer Park. The Park will also be the scene for a demonstration of ice sculpting with several well known ice carvers apd artists putting their talents to the ice test. . Also on Saturday starting at noon there will be hot air balloon intro flights, demonstrations of hang gliding, horse drawn buggy and. sleigh rides and a fishing derby hosted by the Port Perry Lions Club. In the waterfront baseball diamonds, watch for a zany bunch of men and women competing in a mixed slo pitch x tourpameqt in the snow. And on Saturday evening, you can un-wind at a dance in the Latcham Centre starting at 8:00 PM. On Sunday (Jan. 16) the Snowball Slo pitch tournament will continue. le races are for that day, the hang gliders will be out again, as will the hot air balloon. And some special Snow Flake Festival features include a fashion show at noon and a demonstration of figure skating at the Ice Palace.
