Congratulations are in order for John Harman who captured the scoring championship, and John Moore who captured the "goaltending honours for this season. Play this week saw a few teams flexing their muscles for the playoffs, and thus a number of penalty calls! Game One had an excellent game between the Compton Comets and the Taylor Aces end in a 1-1 tie. Both teams came out flying and strong perfor 1 Troy Glazier and Bob Strickert kept the sharp-shooters at bay. Jason Warner from Mark DeCosta and Terry Bache gave the Aces the lead in the first period. A Comet marker by Todd Wilbur from Steve Connors and Mike McQuade midway through the third knotted the score with neither team able to pull out their final victory of the season Game two saw a rather lack lustre performance by the Pineridge Phantoms and the "#tzgerald Clippers turn int an exciting finish. With mere seconds left on the clock the Clippers pressed and the Phantoms tried for the open net, only to have the buzzer end the flurry with a Phantom 5-4 victory Scoring champ John Harman led the Phantom attack with a goal and two assists. Ed Olsen had a strong game with a pair of counters while Carl Durham and Al Bonner picked up singles. After an early Charger goal, those Blazers came back with six straight tallies to show that they are a team to watch during the playoffs Larry Pilkey had two goals for the Chargers with single assists to Bob Orr, Steve Groves, David Roth and Larry Jackson The Blazer charge was led by John Robertson, who registered two goals and an assist. Dave Brownson, Henry Forderer, John Mackey and Brian Burns each found the back of the net. Steve Dunn, Doug Bronson and Mackey each had a pair of assists with singles to Burns, Rob Kroonenberg and "Bubbe" McEachern, in this strong Blazer outing. Game four saw the Van World Sharks turn on a "feeding frenzy" late in the final period to edge the J & D Hawks 3-2. The Hawks were without scoring ace Bill Bridge who is nursing a sore back. However, the Hawks played a determined game that saw Doug Suppelsa score from Clarence Stephenson and Jim Fowler, and later Fowler from Paul VanCamp and Dave Thompson. The Sharks had goals from John Kotarba, Peter Lane and Rick Olaisen in this final victory. Assists saw "Roc" Owen with a pair and singles to Tom Patton, Wayne Fox and Ron Zaparanuik. The final game of the regular season saw the Pizza Delight Devils trounce the Crandell's Gamblers 6-2. Apparently the Devils took a dislike to last week's outcome and came ready to play In this final game, it was the Gamblers however who took the lead early in the first period on goals by Steve Fox from Mark Jobb and then Jobb on an unassisted effort. That lead was short-lived as the Devils turned on the gas in the second "and potted six unanswered counters Willy Edwards led the way with a goal and three assists Bill VanCamp had a fine outing with four assists.
