The Oshawa Pony Club held a dressage clinic at Hoskins' Stables In Blackstock on the weekend. Trish Hardy (right) conducted the well attended clinic. The OPC Is hosting its annual Dressage Show at Hoskins', on June 19. For Brenda Montgomery and her horse Loubon, this is always a popular event. The Girl Guides of Port Perry District have been very busy this winter, taking part in camps at Camp Adelaide in Haliburton and at the Kinsmen Hall in Port Perry. Many have taken advantage of the Ice Palace as well as spending nice cozy nights indoors learning about Guides in other countries. A major focus this month has been learning about and appreciating the work done by Lord and Lédy Baden Powell the founders of Guides and A tribute to these two outstanding people will be made at a Thinking Day Ceremony for all Sparks, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers in Port Perry, at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church on Tuesday February 22, 1994. The girls will present skits, songs and readings to celebrate the joint birthday of Lord and Lady Baden Powell. The service will be from 6:30 to 7:46 p.m. and parents are welcome to attend. Girls, remember to gather those Thinking Day Pennies to support the World Friendship The leaders who attended were treated to a day full of camp skills building and fun was enjoyed by all. Many leaders will also experience Area Day in April where they take part in learning games, songs, camp crafts, survival techniques and ng ideas for Fund helping Guides in less fortunate countries. On Saturday, February 19, many' Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers in the area will take part in the GOTA Challenge (Guides On the Air). Jim Tower Jr., a local Scugog Island resident and his Ham Radio mates will be setting up their airwaves at Camp Adamac on Shirley Road and will teach the girls how to use a Ham Radio as well as letting them try their newly acquired skills by contacting other Guides around Canada and the United States. This is a yearly adventure for the Guides and parents are welcome to bring their daughters to Camp Adamac between 10:00 and 4:00 to take paki in the activities. Please come prepared to ask questions as these gents are eager to share their knowledge. The leaders in this area have also been busy taking part in training sessions to be better to help and teach the girls. One Camp training was held on the weekend at the Prince Albert Hall. Gavin Baxter got the first from the slot after a nice feed from Robert Gracie and Ryan Puckrin. The second goal came as Aaron Levy made a heads-up pass to Matt Baxter who blasted one by the Uxbridge goalie. Port went up by three on an end-to-end play by defenceman Trevor Smith with Matt Blowe and Matt Baxter assisting. At the 1:02 mark Gavin Baxter potted another one. Assisting were Robert Gracie and Mike Heasman. In the second period the Stars went up by two more with Gavin Baxter keeping the pressure on as he netted his third of the game. Uxbridge managed a short- handed goal as Port took a rash of penalties in the second period. Port's final goal was a great effort with Robert Gracie and Matt Philips feeding Todd Parry in the slot for a one timer, Both teams played hard in the third but couldn't connect with the mesh.
