Later they had a soft drink out of their own pop machine and rapped about the quality of real friendships with their cool youth leader. Victory Christian Centre (VCC) _ wants to be with the kids where they are at, with truth and straight talk to help them through life and make them secure. VCC is a church in what was a warehouse. And, just like the 15,000 sq. ft. we have, its ministry to the family cover all the bases. Just as in their name, Victory Christian Church, they want to bring victory into people's. lives. It is new, a people's church, that is friendly and there to help. VCC has no denominational superstructure but is associated with Gospel Crusade, which provides a covering and accountability for more than 2000 churches worldwide. Matthew Campbell walked off with the Cub of the Year trophy and Kurt Campbell received the Most Improved Scout Trophy. Katie Stephenson received the Camper of the Year trophy and Chad Muirhead received the Scout of 'the Year trophy. Congratulations to the youth. Special recognition was given to Willy Nozdryn, Colin Manns, Troy Hanna and Chad Muirhead for working very hard to become Chief Scouts. There will be a special presentation sometime . in November to honour these youth. Chairperson Roy Anger surprised all the leaders by having them come up front and 183 QUEEN ST., PORT PERRY 985-8234 presenting them with service pins for their years of service in . scouting. He also presented a pin to Mr. Adams for his continuing wbrk with our group and a pin and plant to Treasurer Sherry Nozdryn for her work and support this past year, and a plant and 'special gift to Secretary Nancy Anger for her ongoing work in scouting. The evening ended with David Wood presenting Roy Anger with his pin for his work in scouting. May 28 and 29 saw the cub section attend the Pineridge District Cub camp in Port Perry. The leaders I spoke to said the youth had lots of fun. 1st Cartwright h#s gone through some major changes this past year but we have all come through with flying colours with executive members, leaders and parents banding together to make scouting a good place for the youth. After all throughout this article I have said time and again the youth have had fun and .that really is the bottom line. We all hope everyone has a great summer and keep your eyes open for our start up date in September.
