wy" 14 -- Scugog Citizen -- Tu day, June 28, 1994 What's on at the Scugog Shores Museum? Plans are well underway for Scugog.Shores Museum's 25th anniversary celebrations in the month of July. The First event is "Music in the Village" to be held on Saturday July 2nd and Sunday 8rd. Various musical groups will be + performing. Groups which range from Country and Bluegrass to Dixie to Classical. Soloists and groups will be performing at various locations throughout the grounds. Admission is free for this event. On Saturday, July 23 and Sunday 24th there will be a celebration of Steam and Railway Days. Displays and demonstrations of steam machines, model railways and steam and railway memorabilia will be taking place at various locations around the Museum. Included in the display will be Larry Murphy's model of the Port Perry railway and waterfront as it appeared in the early 1880's. Mr . Murphy was the guest speaker at last month's well attended Historical Society meeting at which time he spoke about the old' railway and showed his model. So if you missed the meeting, this will be your chance to catch up on a pleasant and popular event. Regular museum admission charges apply to this event. The final event of the month and another first for the Port Perry area will be Scugog's first Herb Festival to be held on July 31. This event will feature displays, demonstrations and talks on Herbs and Natural medicines. This popular and growing field will draw visitors from around the province. The displays and talks will take place in the buildings on the Museum grounds. Again, regular admission prices will apply. For each of the events, all the museum buildings will be open and on display with guides to show you through the Museum's regular exhibits. The Museum ° will be open from 1.00.p.m..to 5.00 p.m. on all of these special i days. Durham Board and teachers settle The Education and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation, District 17, which represents the Secondary Occasional Teachers, have reached a two year agreement. The agreement covers the period January 1, 1994: to December 31, 1995 and calls for no change to the daily rate of pay or benefit plan coverage. Key points in the agreement cover benefit plan eligibility, grid placement of Occasional Durham Board of Agreement Teachers, and minor editorial changes to the present agreement. The tentative agreement was reached May 16, 1994 and subsequently ratified by the - Secondary Occusional Teachers on June 9, 1994 and by the Durham Board on June 13, 1994. About 225 Secondary Occasional Teachers are covered by the agreement. The terms of the settlement will not result in any additional cost to the Board. R.H.
