:d Z Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday, June 28, 1994 -- 31 a . - Cartwright Minor Softball results - TEAL Figure Skating Club 23 - Super Spud 15 High winds and blowing sand played their part as the Figure Skating Club increased their first place lead. The winners were led by Myles Romain with 8 home runs. Caitlyn Hellingman had 2 home runs and played an excellent game at second base. Rina Prendergast hit another home run while Phillip Kadowaki and Dustin Parker scored 3 runs each. Blackstock Lioness 23 Analda Garden Centre 23 This rescheduled game resulted in no clear winner as the teams battled to a tie. Perhaps the happiest moment. was when Kyle Sobczak returned to play after being. hit in the head while playing first base. Home runs a plenty provided lots of excitement. The key round tripper came from William Dallas of the Lioness as his 3 run homer tied the game. Other 4 baggers were hit by Jeff Campkin, Justin Kennedy and Sean Taylor all for Analda. Other offensive stars included Nathan Evans with 2 doubles while Sarah Aide and Darcee Grove collected a single apiece. Blackstock Lioness 14 Analda Garden Centre 13 High winds and blowing sand made the difference in this relatively low scoring game. Heather Popowich led the winners with 3 hits as well as scoring 3 runs. Sarah Aide and Sarah Oppers had 2 hits and 2 runs each. A balanced attack for Analda was led by Justyn Kennedy, Sean Taylor, Erin Lang, Michael Hazeldon and Donald Shaw who all scored 2 runs each. TYRES Cartwright Yputh Council 10 Mike Baker Auto 4 Doubles by Joey Hill and Nicki Jones proved the difference as the CYC Won their 2nd straight game. Tyler Cyr's excellent play' at 2nd place provided the defensive support for the Youth Council. Flooring 5 Turner's Green Giaiits 0 Port Bantams pound Lindsay On June 12th, a confident Lindsay team arrived in Port Perry for a special Saturday game with no time limit against the local Bantams. What they encountered was an 11 hit 14 run attack and the game was called after 5 innings. The home team got 2 hits each from Johnathan Reed, Drew Walker, Sean Roncetti, Colin Lopez and Lee Hoare, including Lee's line drive home run to deep right-centre field. The pitching was also impressive as Sean, Drew and Gavin Baxter combined for the 1 hit, 1 run game. The following Friday, the Panthers travelled to Oakwood expecting a rematch with the inexperienced Oakwood minors. Terry McKenzie pitched three innings, allgwing 1 hit and 1 run while fanning 8. Adam Baran finished and was equally effective in striking out of the 6 batters he faced. Nevertheless, this game will best be remembered for a pitch thrown by the Oakwood starter. That was a high fastball that Mike Taylor drove well over the 280 foot mark on the left field fence for a grand slam home run. It effectively ended the 11 - game in the first inning. Monday's home game was Ops and therefore a different story. With two of the three planned pitchers unavailable, McKenzie volunteered to pitch out of turn. In three very careful innings, Terry held Ops to 2 walks while striking out 6 before handing over a 2 run lead to Sean Roncetti. The visitors were seeking revenge for Sean's effort the week before, but got only a walk and their lone hit as Roncetti added 3 more shut out innings. Defensively, the Parithers made the plays they had to but the offence was more of a purr than a roar. They needed the much improved base running as well as the base hits by Tom Keeble, Mike Taylor, Jonathan Reed and Colin Lopez to produce their 4 runs. Before leaving, the visitors reminded all that play-offs are the end of July. In the last 4 games, Port pitchers have allowed a total of 4 runs and 5 hits including 3 consecutive 1-hit games. 7" CADMUS COUNTRY CLUB 13300 Cartwright East 1/4 Line One mile south of Cadmus BH NOW OPENER "", Come and enjoy a day of Rainbow or Speckled Trout Fishing (no licence required), take a walk through our 100 acres and / or join us in our Scenic Dining 8 Room with daily lunch apd dinner specials. 3 SUNDAY BRUNCH ...
