These four LDRP (labout,delivery,recovery,post- partum) rooms are huge, each complete with a birthing bed, crib and armoire. All the equipment necessary for the birth is brought to the LDRP room. After the baby is born, weighed, measured and bundled in a layette, the equipment is wheeled out of the room, leaving the mom and her baby time to get acquainted. Janet had her first baby, a son, Bradley, a year ago. Comparing the two births, the young mother told the Citizen "it was nice to have the labour, birth and follow-up care all in one room and not be shuffled about from one room to another". She laughs now when she recalls her labour last year. ing was in a turmoil" she said, "workmen and their machinery and noise were everywhere. You never knew 'who or what you'd meet up with as you were wheeled about during the labour to the actual delivery and follow-up care". Her husband, Joe, enjoyed the, experience moreso this time too as there's more room for the coach or support person with, the mom-to-be. "Instead of being, shoved in a corner to watch the procedure he felt more at ease giving me moral support and didn't feel in the way of the staff". Assisting in the delivery were Dr. Paul Puckrin and nurse, Alice Lee. "Dr.Puckrin is an * excellent doctor" says Janet. She has known Alice Lee for quite some time. The entire event in the new LDRP was "a experi ". Janet and Joe now have two sons. Christopher Joseph arrived at 10:55am last Wednesday, weighing in at a healthy 8 Ibs. 8 oz. and became a part of the history of the Community Memorial Hospital, WANTED DEAD or ALIVE
