Close games in Scugog Soccer action recently UNDER 6 RESULTS Port Perry Printing and J & D Carpentry had a terrific game with lots of end to end action. The game remained scoreless until the last minutes when Corey Marlow netted one for the Printers, to give them their first win of the season by.a 1-0 margin. Charlotte provided superb net minding for the Printers, to preserve the shutout. Rebeka Dawn Hash and Evar®Haselum put in a super-human effort for J & D, and Stefan Zochodne kept them in the game with great shves. Excellent plays were made by Layla Keyes- Renaud and Ryan Harrison. Haugen's Chicks showed excellent teamwork to come up with a 6-3 victory over Manvers. Scott Partington scored another hat trick, assisted on two by Shayne Taylor and Joshua Vaughan. Joshua scored two unassisted goals and Rory Taillon added one to the total. Shayne did a good goal keeping job with the help from good defense by Tommy Whiteway. The tables were turned on the Chicks in their game against the Legion, when despite a five player advantage they had to fight to keep the score down to 6-3. They tried to come back in the second half when all three goals were scored. Shayne Taylor scored assisted by Benjamin Mutton and Scott Partington scored twice assisted by Neil Harris and Shayne. Laurentian Bank showed a great team effort and passing skill to shut out Second Hand for Kids, 2-0. Joey Frey played a strong game with Dylan Jones passing the ball to the forwards. Kristen Renaud made several heads up plays. Christopher Barchuk was solid in net. For the Kids, Justin Abraham showed spirited play, while Miranda Batterink did good work in goal. UNDER 7 RESULTS A fine effort by both Komputer Klinic and Brian's Towing earned the teams a 3-3 tie. Brian's goals were scored by Britini Smith, Kirk Stevens and Troy Wagg. A fine defensive game was played by Irene Watson and Kimberly Wilson played a strong way game. The Klinics markers came from Durham Pharmacy over the Lazers Last Thursday evening in Blackstock, Durham Pharmacy Tykes clinched their league championship by defeating London Life Lazers by a resounding 18-7 score. Going into this game, the two teams had been tied for the top spot, so it was a must win situation to decide the league's winner The Pharmacists got on the scoreboard early, scoring four runs in the first innirff, but the Lazers retaliated with five of their own in the bottom of the first, and it looked like it would be a tight contest. But the excellent "south-paw" pitching of Ben, combined with a strong effort from relievers Tom and Darcy, resulted in no further runs for the Lazers until the bottom of the final inning In the meantime, strong hitting by Andrew, Kaine and Greg amongst others, was giving the Pharmacists an ever- increasing lead. Collin, returning from his summer vacation, caught the Lasers looking when he made a beautiful line drive between second and third. Fielding throw of the game PORT PERRY 985-8177 came from Jordan, who used his strong arm not only to get runners out at first base from his position in left field, but also to catch them trying to steal second when he put in his time in the catcher's position. The two Ryans also made valuable contributions towards their team's victory. Ryan F saw his first pitching action of the season and proved that his practicing at home was paying off. Ryan M. contributed a couple of runs towards the team total The Pharmacists return to action in the first game of the playoffs tomorrow (Wednesday) evening at the Port Perry Fairgrounds ' Jonathan Hamelink with two, and Matthew Miller. Port Perry Lions really came together to defeat Lake Scugog Lumber by a big 12-1 margin. Goals were scored by Andrew Pegg (6), Michael Wilson(3), Darren Dekoning (2), Brad Nearly (2), and Jessica Lee (1). Matt Robinson earned goal keeping honors. Kyle Paige got Scugog Lumber's lone marker, and honourable mention goes to Stewart Medford for effort. UNDER 9 RESULTS Reach Park Motors won their game by default when Antrim House could field only four players. A fun game was held, the good plays by Leanne Barfoot and Elissa Beelby. Crosby Hartung showed great style in net. Burketon shut out Raglan thanks to a pair of goals each my Matt Morrison and Alex Henderson. Danny Morrison chipped in with two assists, backed up by strong play from Stacy Arnold. Jaimin Gillis sparkled in net for the shut out. Tyler Daley and Matthew Tennant put in a good effort for Raglan Air Durham also defeated Cottrell's Cuspids, 4-0, on a pair of goals each from Derek Goreski and Scott Lennox Tyler Cunningham and Lisa Leskowicz shared the shut out. Despite the loss the Cuspids played a good game, and Adam Farnley was spectacular in goal. Adam $mart was burning up the field, and Kristy Ashton made some well placed passes Joe's Pizza edged out Willowtree Farms 5-4. Nelson Langmaid got a hat trick and Adam Bull added the other two. Great defensive work from Amanda Curry, Duncan Pringle and Tyan Hamelinck helped, and Leo Taillon made some great saves in net Keenan Geer "scored Willowtree's hat trick, and Daniel Bois notched one Tim's Renovations fell to Manvers, in a 6-4 game. UNDER 11 RESULTS Green Apple Cabinets just held on to their undefeated status, but not for lack of effort from the Legal Eagles, who managed a 2-2 draw. Goals for Green Apple were by Justin Moffat and Michael Sytsma, with assists from Ryan Kelly and Nicholas Murphy Evan Ashton and Billy Britt scored for the Eagles This was an excellent game with action going up and down the field, and constant running despite few substitutions Daniel Foster and Kevin Robins were great in their midfield positions. Kyle Marlow and James Stevenson came through with some good defensive plays for their respective teams Philip Cudahy had an outstanding game with 5 goals to lead Burketon to a 7-2 victory over 1.G.A. Zach Pither added two more, and Laura Pottier picked up two assists on excellent throw-ins. Katie Beirness and Chris Wygerde each scored one for [.G-A. An exciting see-saw battle between Waterfront Cafe and Willowtree Farms finally ended with the Cafe victorious, 4-3 Spencer Churchill notched the hat trick with Nicole Ansell adding the single marker. Special mention goes to Gabriel Benschop and Peter Konstantinopolous for their goalkeeping efforts. Melissa Hale and Katrina Leahy stopped the Willowtree advance time and time again. For Willowtree, Joseph Kozlinski scored two goals, and Joe Farghuarson added one. Haugen's Heroes had a good offensive game against Darlene Colton Photography to take a 4- 1 lead. Wolf Palleske scored twice, and one each was scored by Alex Nicoloau and Brigette Palleske. Nice midfield plays were made by Laura Batterink, Scott Symes and Derek Fishley. Erin Edwards and David Miller played solid defense with great blocks and long kicks. Even so, Chris Gloster managed to break through to score one for the photographers. UNDER 18 RESULTS Port Perry [.G.A. showed their offensive prowess against Manvers Mitchell/Royal Gardens with a 7-0 win.
