See story above. Garden Club The August 2nd meeting of the Pine Ridge Garden Club was held at Nestleton Hall. The speaker of this meeting was Martin Galloway of Chalk Lake Greenhouses. He gave an interesting and informative talk on ornamental grasses. He also showed slides on the grasses and perennials. The winners of the monthly competition were - lst Fran Binns, 2nd Grace Bajema and 3rd Shirley Smith. The Garden Club is planning a bus trip to the Niagara Wineries and fruit growers on September 8. The school held Open House last week and Directress Laurie Wilson said there was plenty of interest. Initially, the School will offer classes for 16 students from ages 2.5 to six years, and there is room to take a further 16 students. Located on Old Simcoe Road (just south of S.A. Cawker P.S.) the Children's House also has a completely fenced outdoor area of 5,000 square feet where the kids will enjoy playground equipment, nature walks and gardening. Ms. Wilson was born and raised in Port Perry and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of Toronto. After teaching at a Montessori School in the Toronto area for a couple of International (AMI) diploma in May 1992 with the dream of opening her own school in her home town. Ms. Wilson will be concentrating on classroom teaching, along with a teaching assistant. Her mother Carol will work full time in administration. Montessori curriculum for three to six year olds is divided into five areas: practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics and culture. Along with these programs the school introduces French, music and physical education. The Montessori school years runs from September to June with the same stat holidays, Christmas and March Break holidays. The school offers half day programs (9:00 AM to 11:00 AM) and full day programs from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
