Minor Ball fundraiser considered a success. October 1st dawned dark and damp, Not to be deterred, the CMB%undraising committee continued with their plans te run the lob ball tournament as scheduled. Fourteen mixed adult teams had entered ahd all showed up to play. Rakes, shovels, and wood shavings were employed to ready the ball diamonds in Blackstock and Nestleton for play. Despite the wet weather all teams enjoyed a day of exciting ball. The day was a financial success as well, raising over $1500 from entries. All of the officials willingly volunteered their time to help out with this fundraiser. The volunteer umpires were Brendon Agnew, John Binning, Wayne Bradt, Dave Bradt, Brent Donnelly, Barry Hazeldon, Doug Kadowaki, Doug Lowe, Kyle Simms, Brian Sonne, and Dale Stinson. The organizers Doug Kadowaki and Donna Drew did a fine job to ensure the day ran smoothly. The monies raised from this event are earmarked for the Future Development Fund of CMB. Monies from the fund will be used in the community to assist in the development of another ball diamond, and also for upgrading of existing ball diamonds in the future. CMB extends a big "Thank You" to all of those who contributed their time and effort to make this another successful event. The weather over the Thanksgiving weekend was perfect for taking In many of the fall activities. Alex McKay and his brother Jordan, seated on a pumpkin dinosaur at the Willowtree Farm near Utica. The farm offers weekend wagon rides, professional pumpkin painting demonstrations and Is sponsoring a fall decorating contest. Everyone can experience the oid fashioned fun of running through a corn maze and viewing countless scarecrows and other scary creatures. clinic The Port Perry Scugog Angels Midget Girls Fastball Club are hosting a Tryout Clinic October 16th from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Water Street Park in Port Perry. All girls born in 1976-77-78 are invited to attend for a chance to test their skill. There is no charge.
