- Scugog may soon get Township-wide garbage pick-up Scugog Township will soon have Township-wide garbage collection. Most councillors said Monday they like the idea of Township- wide collection, but final approval will not come until October 27 to give councillors a chance to determine how the charge will be paid by ratepayers. Currently, those ratepayers with municipal collection pay through the assessment. That may be changed to a flat per household fee that would amount to about $45 per year. "Paying by assessment is not fair because it assumes that people living in large houses create more garbage than those » in small houses," said Ward 2 rep Marilyn Pearce.
