Information and applications are available at.the high school on Wednestay evenings from 1845 hrs (6:45 pm) to 2115 hrs (9:16 pm). - #41 PPHS Cadet Corps is an Amt P y placed in the school to provide an opportunit§for young people, male or female, ages 12 (by Dec. 31,94) to 18 inclusive, to acquire leadership skills and a first hand knowledges of the Armed Forces without any legal obligation. The program is a comprehensive program spanning the basic Tevel to that of the qualified instructor and ranging in activities from the initial first year two or three week summer camp at CFB Borden to six week camps or exchanges across Canada or in Europe. Activities vary from learning how to instruct, parachuting, # mountain climbing, survival training or exchanges. A cadet completes his career by serving as a gfaff cadet and instructing the summer courses for regular pay. Federal Gov't which covers the cost of instructors apd most operating' costs. The facilities are 'provided by the Durham Board of Education who sponsor the Corps. Uniforms are provided by. the Corps but are the responsibility of the parents. It is unfortunate that the Corps is one of the best kept secrets in town but the secrecy lid has been lifted and it is hoped the residents of the area will take advantage of the opportunities offered. Even with current cutbacks, for Halloween fun each young person who makes full use of the cadets, the Federal approximately $3,000.00.
