Game 4 saw Port Perry up against Markham on Nov. 5th. This was an early morning game for the girls as we played at the Milliken arena at 8:50 am, but they certainly proved to us that they were well rested and + ready for action. In the first period, the Pineridge girls chalked up 5 goals with no problem at all Congratulations to Leanne Davison who netted her first "Tween" goal assisted by Leanne Holt and Kim Carrique. The Markham team showed some competition with two goals scored this period, but Port came back strong in the second to add another 6 goals * final score was 11-2. Diana Burnett and Mary Justynski each earned a hat trick this game, Jen Hammond netted two and Melissa Hooker and Amy Wilson each counted for one. . Assists went to Amelie Leveille, Jen Donnelly, Jen Imrie, Lisa LeFort, Melissa Hooker, Cathy Cooper, and Diana Burnett. Jackie Smith and Amy Wilson both played a great game to add to our victory. Lauren Christie was netminder for this game and although she didn't see a lot of action.in her end, she made some great saves when called upon On Sunday, Nov.13th, we travelled to Pickering for an exciting game. This was our first encounter with the Pickering team this year and was probably the best game we have had so far. Our checking skills wegre certainly put to the test and by the way the girls played I would say the practices have paid off. The ring travelled back and forth throughout the entire game with both teams making numerous shots on net. Lauren Christie was in goal for Port Perry and she made some beautiful saves, gqallowing . Pickering to scofe only one goal. All of the girls are to be congratulated on a fine display of ringette this game. Final score was a 1-1 tie. Our next game at home Nov. 19 against Whitby. pre 'Ny =a Schildt Machining Limited is proud to announce our 'NEW LOCATION' at 30 IANLOR BlyD. (00s) 985-8877 my Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday, November 15, 1994 --29 _& XL Eaglettes will continue to improve with each game The XL Gas Bar Eaglettes, Novice C Ringette team, played in Oshawa against a Novice B team on Sunday November 6: From the start it looked as if an upset was in the making, as Port Perry controlled the play for the first few minutes of the game. Led by a very strong performance by the team Captain, Jackie Pashley, Port Perry allowed only 5 goals in the first period and cut that down to 2 in the second. Although losing 7-0, the Eaglettes again showed improvement over their last game. The fact that Oshawa only scored 7 goals indicates the exceptional goaltending provided by Heather Imrie and the improved defensive play of Assistant Captain Christine Cotie, Whitney Reid, Holly Allison, Sarah Aldridge, Ceilidh Baxter, Nicole Ansell and Hailey Wilson. Up against a more skillful opponent, the offense was unable to get on track. There was however, an obvious improvement in the performances of Shannon Urquhart, Jenna Davison, Amanda Curry, Jill Hunter, Shannon Hatfield and Jessica Doe. Our next game is at 3:00 in the Scugog Arena, Saturday November 29, against Richmond Hill. The XL Gas Bar Eaglettes played their first game on Saturday, October 15. Up against a Novice B opponent from Whitby, the girls struggled in their first game of the year and ended up on the wrong end of a 14-0 score. Despite the lopsided score, the Eaglettes showed that they have the potential to do well this year. Of special note is the performance of our goalie, Heather Imrie. The final score does not reflect the fact that Heather played quite well under an over- pawering attack from Whitby. Our second game saw the team travel to Oakwood for a game against the Mariposa Novice C team. This game was a complete reversal of our first with the Eaglettes dominating, the Mariposa team and coming away with a 12-0 win. Port Perry goals were scored by Jackie Pashley (5), Nicole Ansell (3), Sarah Aldridge (3) and Whitney Reid. Assists were made by Nicole (2), Christine Cotie (2), Sarah and Shannon Hatfield. Saturday, October 29, the Eaglettes hosted the Novice C team from Markham. The team continued to show improvement and succeeded in outscoring Markham by a score of 8-2. Jill Hunter gave a strong performance in goal considering this was her first game at that position. Supporting Jill in the win were goals scored by Jackie (4), Nicole (2), Christine (1) and Ceilidh Baxter (1). Assists were made by Christine, Ceilidh, Heather, Holly Allison and Brooke Simpson. These results are quite good considering that 9 out of the 16 girls on the team had not played a game prior to this season. The improvement shown over the past few weeks indicates that this year the Port Perry Novice C team will certainly be competitive at the Novice C level and win their fair share of games.
