Since the season began back in early September, the Harrison Blazers have enjoyed "top spot". Although they have yet to suffer a defeat, tie games in the last few weeks coupled with victories byta hot Pineridge Phantom team, has the Blazers now sharing first place honours. Since the Blazers and the Phantoms are not scheduled to face each other until Jan.2nd, the next few weeks should prove to be interesting for both teams. Game 1 saw ghe Compton Comets come from behind in the third period to tie the Harrison Blazers 3-3. The Comets had goals from Willy Edwards, Brian Burns and believe it or not, another career' milestone from Doug Bache! T Sport STATS! For the Blazers John Harman continued to add to his points total as he notched a goal and 2 assists. Dave Milton and Richard Sakanashi also had tallies with Darcy Milligan grabbing an assist, and Jim Beatty having no' less than 2 helpers on this outing. Game 2 had the Pizza Delight Devils, almost fully recovere from last week's bombing, play to a 1-1 tie with the Crandell's Gamblers. John Mackey got the Devils on « the board midway into the second period on a goal from Bill Foote. Then Robert Evans responded on an unassisted effort for the Gamblers. With no scoring in either the first or the third periods and a penalty free game for both teams, this match proved to be a "tidy affair" with both squads picking up single points. Game 3 saw the action heat up as the Pineridge Phantoms seized their opportunity to share first place with a 6-2 victory over the Van World Sharks. The Phantoms took charge in the first frame and then settled back while the Sharks made thing close. However, 3 unanswered goals in the final period sealed the 2 points and a Phantom share of first place overall! Brian Samis, Steve Fox, Fred Moffatt, Bill VanCamp, Rovy Zaparnuik and Clarence Stephenson all had singles for the Phantoms. Sean Fewer aiong with Samis and Moffatt each had 2 assists with a single to VanCamp. For the Sharks, Mark Jobb had an unassisted counter, while Phil Cochrane from Randy Prosser marked the end of a mini comeback. Game 4 really got the building rocking as the Fitzgerald Clippets doubled the J&D Hawks 4-2. The Hawks have been on a roll in the last few weeks, but the Clippers took no notice in the "battle of the week". Both teams found lots of visits to the penalty box in order during a "spirited" third period. The Hawk attack had Ritchie Lefort scoring both goals with single assists going to Rick Hope and Joe Curran. For the Clippers, Doug Bronson led the way with a pair of goals and an assist. Steve Lee and sponsor Carl Fitzgerald also found the net. Kelly Lee chipped in a pair of assists with singles going to Al Sibbald, Tom Patton and Larry Pilkey. Game 5 saw the Maonsma Chargers keep pace with the leaders as they continued their winning ways with a 7-2 victory over the Taylor Aces. Although the Aces have had a srough 2 months of hockey action, as the weather gets colder, no doubt these Fuel Boys will "urn up the gas" to put more points up on the board. For the Chargers it was another scoring parade similar to last week as 8 players hit the score sheet. Lee Wilbur and Bill Bridge both had a pair of goals with singles to Dave Thompson and Tony Oxley. Assists saw Jim Duncan, Duane Bronson, Jack Monsma and Oxley each with a pair, and John Robertson with a single to complete the scoring and keep Since 1988 BULLDOZING & EXCAVATING 985-3564 GARRY TRIPP FISHING & ARCHERY 24 WATER ST., PORT PERRY ' 985-0737 Grand Re-opening! Mike Koury got the win between the pipes for the "Green Machine". He was helpéd early in the first period as Scott" Duncan made a good takeout to avert a breakaway. Lindsay scored first as they cashed in on a loose rebound. Jamie Smith set up the tying goal as he deked around a defenseman and set up Trevor Weisflock. Then Lindsay grabbed the lead again on a 2- on-1 break. Trevor Weisflock tied tie. score at 2-all early in the second on a screened wrist shot from the left faceoff dot. Assists were by Jeff Tarbotton and Steven MacLennan. At this point the Malmonts realized that this goalie could be beaten on low. shots. . Dean VanCamp (from Trevor Weisflock and Steven MacLennan) fired a quick low shot to the far corner and Mike LeFort scored (from Justin Moffatt and Jeff Tarbotton) for a quick 4-2 Port lead. Dane Gray rattled one off the post as our forwards were buzzing around the offensive zone. Tyler Houthuys then broke up a 2-on-1 Lindsay rush to discourage our opponents further. Port ended the second period up 5-2 as Dean scored an unassisted short-handed beauty. In the third period Trevor Weisflock (Best Effort Player of the Game) completed his "Hat Trick" on a breakaway using Dane as a decoy with assists by rugged Adam Moynes and Tim Jones. Dean also finished off his Hat Trick on a low shot through the five-hole near the end of the game. Late in the period Mike LeFort buried a puck from the slot on an assist by Jamie Smith who had a fine game for Port. They will be practicing hard next week for a home game Nov. 18, 8:00 p.m, against Port Hope.
