Durham East MPP Gord Mills will coach the Legiskaters. Should be a good time for a good cause. Garbage on the agenda at meetings Garbage costs Scugog taxpayers just under $700,000 annually. Recycling, collecting and disposing of garbage is one of : the largest single items in the budget. 7 Council has appointed an ad, hoc committee of chairman Doug Moffatt (Ward 1) Joyce Kelly (Ward 4) Karen Puckrin (Ward 5) to host public meetings in the Township on the topic of garbage. ' Councillor Moffatt said the meetings are designed with three purposes in mind: to find out what the public thinkg about how garbage is managed in the Township, to provide information to the public and to ges input from the public on everything from the blue box program to expanding municipal pick-up to hamlets and/or rural areas. Councillor Moffatt said there appears to be a certain amount of confusion and mis- information about garbage on the part of the public, and hopefully these two piiblic meetings will lead to a better understanding. The ad hoc committee will be making recommendations to Scugog council. . The first meeting is Wednesday, March 29 at the Blackstock Rec Centre, and the second is Thursday, March 30 at the community hall in Utica. Both get underway at 7:30 PM. HAUGEN'S is OPENING!
