Without the many helpers and volunteers, it just wouldn't be possible to achieve successful results. Each of the 90 plus players benefited and progressed significantly because of the dedication, support, patience, and positive influence, they received from all of our coaches. We received many compliments from our parents. Most indicating that theirchild made great gains since the beginning of the season. They learned the basic fundamentals of the game; skating, shooting, passing, stick-handling and team work; plus they wanted to come to the rink each week, théy were having fun. At this time I would like to thank all the . coaches personally for their support: Lloyd Barchuk, Dave Roth, Tom Whiteway, Brian Samis, Jeff Vannetten, Bill Weisflock, Mike Passmore, Jeff Bailey, Rick Henry, Randy Petch, Ken Brown, Mike Peleikis, Ed Olsen, Joe Curran, Fred Moffatt, Dave Stewart, Ken Hobbs, Rick Penstone, Phil Martin, Larry Pilkey, Steve Dunn, Bryce Jimmo, and Dave Dickson. We had a good mix of ha this year, new coaches to the system and coaches with one or more year's experience. At the beginning of the year we looked at ensuring that our head coach for each of the 6 tyke teams, be an individual with Port Perry Minor Hockey experience. This proved to be very successful. Our sponsors deserve credit too, for their continued support over the years to Port Perry Minor Hockey. The spongors supporting the "Tyke Program* were Dollar Plus Bargain Centre, David's Hairstyling, Knights of Columbus, Kinsmen Club, Valu-Mart, and Nuts About Chocolate. Over the season there were several highlights for the players and their families. 1) In December at' the Christmas break we had a "Tyke Christmas Skating Party"»where nearly 300 people attended. It was a huge success, Santa Claus paid us a visit spending over 2 hours with the children. Prizes and treats were also available to all the children. 3 2) During the Christmas break, the players went through the "Power Skating Sessions". Our thanks to Melanie Moffatt for her instruction and direction. 3) Arrangements were made in February for all the players in the program to have their pictures taken. The pictures turned out great, especially the "Rookie Cards". Many thanks to Mike Tobin for a job well done. 4) During the March break, Port Perry Minor Hockey held a one day "Tyke Tournament", 6 teams participated including our two advanced tyke teams (Dollar Plus Bargain Centre and David's Hairstyling).
