Though their voice was not always welcomed, and certainly not always heeded, the community would have no question where its pastors stood on moral issues of the day. Whether or not the people liked what they heard, pastors would declare their understanding of the biblical view of a public issue. It was understood and expected, that the pastor was God's spokesman. The answered question may well be "is God offended with what is or is not being said?" The pulpit is not a place for a belligerent harangue, but it is a place to fearlessly declare the ge of moral right. as defined by the Bible. While the Scriptures exhort the servant of God to be gentle, those same Seripuites oauive pastors to speak God's Message to people; a message that sometimes bs one's comfort zone.
