healthstyles deb mcdonald < Bones absorb great stresses during exercise & like muscles, they respond by growing thicker & stronger along the lines of stress. Sometimes, though a bone is not strong enough to withstand the strain placed on it by athletic exertion and it can develop tiny hairline cracks in what has become known as a stress fracture. When a person "suffers such a fracture there are 3 probable causes. One is unbalanced muscle development, which allows strong muscles to pull against bone opposed only by weaker, undeveloped muscles. Second, bone weakness caused by inadequate calcium intake during bone remodelling, especially in young runners, 'makes bones give way under the pressure of exercise. Third, might be a reduced estrogen concentration, which leads to bone mineral loss in women who have stopped menstruating. Balanced muscle development can help protect the bones from undue stresses. Each set of muscles pulling on bones to bend a joint should be opposed by an equally strong set of muscles pulling to straighten the joint. No one in training should work a set of muscles without working the opposing muscle as well. Another strategy to spare the bones is to have patience in training, to give the bones & muscles plenty of time to build up to one level of performance before subjecting them to additional stress. As a sport fisherman I am angry and appalled, at the manner in which some members of this fraternity behave, when out on the waters, and sympathizer with angry waterfront property owners, as I "am one. Since the advent of big money fishing tournaments, our waters are teaming with inconsiderate opportunists. The story does not begin and end on the day of the event, but starts well in advance, for practice, and continues well after, for anticipation of future events. The running up and down the lake at mach 1, for the most part is tolerable, but butting in, as a slower boat is headed for a fishing destination or drift fishing the way of the wind, is a disgrace. In my opinion, the most harmfuliof all, fishing under docks, should be banned from all fishing tournaments. Not only will this still give all pros and tournament participants equal opportunity, but takes a giant/leap in the relationship between fisher- persons and property owners. Think, no more bass boats trying to fish around us, while we're swimming. No more lures being snagged on our boat tops £44 NETO AT Ct Weekly Worship VICTOR CHRISTIAN CENTRE Rev. No more unnecessary repairs, caused by bass boats crashing into our docks and boats tied to them. Professional, by definition alone makes my point, some of these people, are not init for the sport and enjoyment, its just the money. We all know the fault does not apply to all, or only, professional fisherpersons. The fault should and must fall, on every tournament participant, problem and equitably for all. I can say that I never fish under docks, although I've known the fish were there, long before it became popular. Honestly, on tough days, I have made casts towards docks, but always more than casting distance away respecting the privacy of the owners.
