The team had five games in a seven day span from Sunday to Sunday and and put up an impressive seven of ten points on the strength of three wins, a draw and one loss. The final game in this string came Sunday night atthe Scuigog Arena as the green and white came to life in the second half of : the match to déwn Bobcyageon Bullets Keith Leslie contiffues to turn the red light behind opposition netminders as he clicked for phe hat trick and chipped' in with an assist. Alternative skiers wait for new season to start' Fall is here and another ski season approaches, and we at the Durham Alternative Ski Association (DASA) were busy during the off-season planning and organizing. Durham Alternative Ski Association is a non-profit organization run by volunteers to help disabled people of all ages participate in Alpine Skiing in Durham Region. The philosophy of the. ski program is that people with disabilities be given the opportunity to experience the joy and exhilaration of skiing. Downhill skiing is good exercise, great fun, and with a few pieces of special equipment anyone with a disability should have the opportunity to learn. Many techniques have been developed so that this activity ean be enjoyed in a manner that is safe, while at the same time demanding to individual physical abilities. We will give participants access to high quality instruction and equipment that maximizes the benefits of skiing and allows them to integrate into the skiing population. Our reward is the joy of new found freedom and confidence reflected in the faces of our participants. The Durham Altérnative Ski Association is a member of the Ontario Association for Skiers with Disabilities. The DASA program hopes to operate out of Dagmar, Lakeridge, and 'Oshawa-Kirby ski resorts. Chris Foster evened the game at deuces just past the mid-point, and at 17:51 ModJacks went ahead to stay when Leslie was set up on a clever passing play from . Dennis and Scott Heasman. He ' went upstairs with the shot that beat Bullet goalie Willy Vandgnstoellaar cleanly. Defenseman Duane Empringham turned 'on the jets late in the frame when he scampered down the right side, cut in front and was able to shovel the puck behind the netminder for a two goal bulge. The teams threw caution (and defense) to the wind in the final period as seven goals. went up on the board. X Ryan Ridgway, Leslie and Barkwell with two did the damage for the MoJacks in this period with Ellery, Tim Pearson and Paul Flint replying for the visitors. MoJacks outshot Bobcaygeon 39-24 in this one and enjoyed a territorial advantage for much of the game. On Saturday night in Opening goal by Laurentian at 10:18 with a lead pass from Tyler Martin at centre ice to Tim Ouelette who slipped the puck through the five hole. The equalizer came at 4:59 by Matt Kamminga assisted by Travis Black and Kevin Gloster. Good shift by Matt. Defensive play# by Chris McKitterick thwarted Laurentian attacks. The go ahead goal by Chris McKitterick assisted Michael McIntyre came at' 3:31. Good plays by Scugog's Gabriel Benshop Gary Renstone and Laurentian's Jon Breen and Steve Guthrie. In the opening minutes' Scugog's Brady Gray kept Laurentians Matt Fish and Brad Giannini off the scoreboard but at the 12:08 mark Tyler Martin's solo effort tied it up. Trevor Chandler nade a nice drop pass to Chris McKitterick whose rising shot found the mark giving Scugog the go ahead. Good individual effort by Teddy Howarth. At 5:08 a scramble in | front of Laurentian's net minder Tyler Webb had a lot of rust on the gun sights as the Merchants got away with a 2-1 victory. Corby Purdy got what proved to be the winner for the Merchants with the first'goal by Darryl James. The MoJack lone tally came off the stick of Keith * Leslie. On Friday night in Bobcaygeon, five different MoJacks had a hand in the scoring in a tight 5-4 victory. 1. Mike Pigeau, Matt Pyke, Duane Empringham, Kenton LeFort (his first of the year) and Leslie 4 the damage. MoJacks had no widable finding the back of the net Oct. 24 in Lakefield as the ran the score into double numbers in a 10-5 win over the Chiefs. Empringham and Leslie both had a pair with singles to Dennis, Pigeau, Barkwell, Todd Stirling, Foster, and McArthur with his first as a MoJack. SLAPSHOTS: MoJack skipper Chic Carnegie was pleased with the week's work by his squad, other than the Saturday night 2- 1 loss to the Merchants. He was especially pleased to see some of the rookies starting to hit the scoresheet such as LeFort and McArthur. As for the eight goals and couldn't hold back Chris MéKitterick who was able to punch it through: assisted by David McGarry. Laurentian would not give up having a very. offensive period but Scugog's Brady Gray kept them off the board until the 4:50 mark when Mark nine assists so far from Mike Barkwell, he said. this "has been a real bonus for the team." | "The rookies are starting to score, the checkers have "been checking," he stated and the players have been making a real effort to stay away from those needless penalties. If there is now one major area of. concern for Carnegie and assistant Brett Puckrin at this stage of the season, it is the number of goals the MoJacks have given up. In nine games, they have surrendered 40 goals for an average of five per outing. And that, said Carnegie "is far too high." He would much prefer to see his team winning games by scores of 3-2 or, 2-1. After a hectic schedule last week, MoJacks get some breathing space as their next ganfe is this Friday night (Nov. 3) when the make the trip to Georgina for a match-up with the Ice, And fon Sunday night ! there is a big match-up at the Scugog Arena as the Uxbridge Bruins come to town at 7:00 PM MoJacks will certainly be looking for a measure of 'revenge as the Bruins handed them a 5-1 pasting in their first meeting of the season on Oct. 6. /Atom HL hockey Vernest managed to put one away. Assisted by Paul Phillips and Tim Ouelette. Paul and Tim had good solo efforts. Laurentian pressed by pulling Tylér Webb during the last minute but Gray kept them at bay.
