Her counsellor at school put her in touch with Youth Challenge International, a non-profit organization devoted to development in third world countries. Jodi was one of 30 people between the ages of 18 and 25 years selected to work 10 weeks in Guyana where she'll be working on several development projects such as constuction of houses add community centres. Each person selected has had to raise $3750. to cover air fare, food, lodging and even some of the expenses. for, tools and equipment needed for their work in the South American country. When Jodi is in Guyana she hopes to make contaét with other guides in the hot country and strike up a chapter to twin with the Port Perry distrigt. When Jodi arrives home after her ten week stint she'll be expected to perform 100 hours of volunteer work in the community, as part of her commitment when she signed up with YCI. "Because the community hag supported me so much it's my turn to share with them all the skills I've learned + and my experiences" she told the Citizen.
