Senger Citizen -- Tuesday, January 16, 1996-5 A. IPCF seeks commercial land expansion IPCF Properties wants to expand the commercial * area of land it is planning for development on the north side of Highway 7A in Port Perry. » IPCF (the commercial development 'arm of National Grocers/Loblaws) is asking council to approve a zoning amendment which would increase the commercial area of the property by half a hectare, and also increase the open space area of the land by just over an acre. This would be achieved by deleting the residential area of the property which is currently part of the zoning.on the 7.4 acre parcel known locally as the Conway lands across the highway from the Port Perry Plaza. IPCF bought the land late last year and announced plans to put up a 35,000 square foot grocery store this year, plus additional retail stores of 20,000 and 10,000 square feet and a free standing fast food outlet. There were no objections to the zoning change request when it was presented at a public meeting Monday afternoon in the council chambers. Scugog council is on record as wanting to aequire all or part of the open space part of the property that winds its way along the shore of Lake Scugog. Council wants this land to add to the chain of public parks that make up the lakefront in Port Perry. 'McCoshen President from page two annual meeting Ms. Casteels thanked the board for all the support she received on numerous projects during her tenure as president. The financial statement shows the Chamber with $7157 (including a $5000 term note due this month), compared with $1800 a year ago. Brian Callery was guest speaker at the meeting (he's a Port Perry financial planner) and delivered a humourous and informative address about how business will cope in the "new age." "We (Canada) will get our (economic) house in order. We have no other (od aT-Tol /Qo lV) oI it TTF: choice," he said. With a smile on his face, he offered this advice to small business owners: chase the receivables, hold the payables, move the inventory and build some reserves. Unlike many gloom and doom reports in the media these days about Canada's business future, 'Mr. Callery said there are plenty of reasons for optimism such as acceptable inflation and interest rates. And he said new technology and the entrepreneurial spirit in the country will create new jobs "lots of them" to replace old, obsolete jobs that go by the wayside in the modern age. A new slate of Chamber * of Directors was confirmed at the annual meeting. Returning for a second term are Mark Smith, Brenda Casteels, Joanne Cerovich, Mike Dale, Brock Reville, Brenda McIntosh and Rick McCoshen. New directors are Jennine Huffman, Linda Parent, Jayson Callan, Lauri Mumby, Ted Bowles and Don MacLeod, Over 100 people attended the annual meeting at the Port Perry Legion, one of the largest turn-outs in recent years.
