The scoring was started by the Hawks with a goal by Bob Collins who was assisted by Keijo Kinnunen and Brian Norton. Then Carl Durward scored with a goal for the Sharks, assisted by Bart Wagar. The next two goals went to the Hawks, the first scored by Joe Curran and assisted by Brian Burns and John Mackey, and the second scored by Steve Groves with an assist from Alan Sibbald. Then Bart Wagar scored for the Sharks with assists from Doug Bache and Wayne Fox, followed by a goal by Colin Asselstine and assisted by Dave Dickson and Carl Durward. The last goal went to the Hawks by Gary Lance to end the game at 4-3. In game two the Compton Comets defeated the Taylor Aces 4-2. The Comets scored the first two goals, the first by Mike Driscoll with assists by Bill Foote and Jason Warner. Then the second was scored by Doug Bronson and assisted by Bill Weisflock and Chris Brain. Then Ray Zaparanuik scored for the Aces with an assist from Sean Fewer. Then Lee Wilbur scored for the Chargers with an assist by Brian Pomeroy. The Ball-Callery Senators tied the Harrison Flames in the fourth game after a 3-0 lead. The first goals were scored by Bob Beveridge, assisted by Willy Edwards and Glen Hudson, followed by Duane Bronson unassisted. Then Glen Hudson scored from Bob Beveridge. In the first two minutes of the third period the Senators tied up the game with goals from Fred Moffatt, with assistance from Paul Goreski and Doug Seeley, Ken Jeffrey, assisted by Fred Moffatt and Rob Evans, and Fred Moffatt again with an assist from Ken Jeffrey. The final score was 3-3. The Pineridge Wolves defeated Pizza Delight Roosters 6-1. Larry Jackson scored the first two goals, the first assisted by Todd Wilbur and Larry Pilkey, and the second by Larry Pilkey and Ron Zaparanuik. The Roosters scored with a show from Tony Oxley, assisted by Carl Durham. Ron Zaparanuik took the next goal from Larry Pilkey and Robert VanCamp. In the second period Ken Davison scored twice, the first assisted by Clarence Stephenson and Larry Pilkey, and the second by Larry Pilkey. Super Bowl Sunday at the Antrim House in Port Perry turned out to be a lucky day for Don Thompson as he won a very spiffy, bright red Bud King ot Beers jacket when his name was pulled in a draw. With Don at left are Antrim proprietor Dave Hillier-and server Wendy Welsh, Not only did Don win the jacket, he picked the Stéelers In a wager and cashed in when those Cowboys failed to cover the point spread. Enjoy the jacket, Don, and your winnings. Emiels/Big V tie 5-5 There was lots of end to end action at the arena Saturday morning with «the Pee Wee House League teams of Emiels-and Big V. Big V started off by taking the lead with 3 goals in the first period by Derek Ellicott, T.J. Robbins and Ryan Haslam. Assists were awarded to T.J. Robbins, Ryan Haslam; lan Banser, and Eric "Bird. Great defensive play by Jessie Bennett and Matt Vaughan of Big V kept Emiels off the scoreboard. In the second period Emiels came back and put 3 goals on the scoreboard. With great: team play, Joshua Griffen, Michael Blakey and Cameron Vernest each put a goal into the net. Assists went to Michael Blakey, Sean Williams, Joshua Griffen, and Gerrard Timmers. Big V still held the lead at the end of the second with a goal by Mike Dalby, assisted by Ryan Haslam and Jason Howarth. The. third period showed a lot of spirit by Emiels. Big V opened the period with a goal by Derek Ellicott, assisted by Don Campbell which put Big V ahead 5 - 3, but Emiels never quit. With great team play and excellent goaltending by Shawn Martin, Emiels managed to close the gap with two goals only eight seconds apart. Emiels and Scala face off at 11 am, Larocque and Big V at 12:30. Tweens help Jill celebrate big day Sunday January 21st the Pineridge Tween A's were host to Barrie and skated toa 5 - 2 victory. Although the team from Barrie had improved substantially since Port played them last (especially their goalie!) Port still dominated most of the game. Goals and assisis were as follows for Port: Rhea, a nice back hand flip on a nice pass from Jen; Melissa from a pass at the blueline from Ashleigh; Jen from Rhea; Alicia netted one - finally! After . hitting the post several times she picked up the ring between her skates from a good rass from Stacey; and last goal was by Stacey assist to Rhea. Kim, Katherine and Nicole had some scoring opportunities too! Good all - round team play and nice passing girls! After their win, the team celebrated at a birthday party for goalie Jill. The girls travelled to Mississauga Friday night and skated to a 6 - 1 victory. First period was all Port. Scoring was Melissa assist to Jen; Melissa again assists to Jen and Kim; and Rhea scored from coming around the net to 'make it 3 - 0 Port.' Second , period Mississauga was checking hard. They did get one by goalie Jill to make it 3 - 1 but Port came back with 3 more goals. Melissa, her third for the game, assist to Kim; Jen assist to Ashleigh; and Jen again assist to Kim. Way to go girls! Next "action for the Tween A's is the Pickering Tournament February 2nd . and 3rd. As the saying goes, "Don't just play - compete!" Good luck girls. Soccer registration Amidst the cold and snow it's hard to think about soccer but yes soccer registration time is here! The Scugog Soccer Association Executive have been meeting on a regular basis to discuss any changes and improvements, for this coming year. Soccer registration will be held at The Scugog Chamber of Commerce, 269 Queen Street (across from the IGA) Port Perry, February 9th, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. or February 10th, 10:00 - 4:00. Registration fees are $60.00 per player, $120.00 for two, Maximum of $160.00 per family. (late registration fees apply). Please remember to take players Health Card Number. The Soccer Club looks forward to a healthy registration again. More information regarding coaches meetings, referee clinics, sponsors, etc. will follow over the next couple of months.
