On Sunday, January 28th, they eliminated the Blackhawks by a score of 10-1. Fifty-seven seconds into the game, Mark Blakley scored on assists from Dane Gray and Jason Whitworth, and shortly after Oshawa tied it at 1-1. Howéver, Oshawa would Lumber For the third week in a row, Scugog Lumber and the Lions Club faced off in Atom House League play. In a hard fought'game, the Lumber men came out on top again, this time by a score of 11-6. "Despite a 6am start, both teams came out fired up and ready to play. The first two periods were a back and forth affair, and it wasn't until the third that Scugog was able to put the game out of reach. Accopding to Gerry Rintoul of the Somerville & District Snownobile Club, that.small section of TOP Trail,E108 had been closed since November, 1895 for bridge construction work and signs to that effect are posted on either side of the site. "The trail was closed for good reason" stated OFSC spokesperson John Blaicher. "A new bridge was being installed to make that water crossing safer and -coistruction was ongoing. Apparently the victim and his companions sfiowmobiled north through the construction zone that Friday morning, riding through heavy equipment and work underway. Assists were by Justynski (1), Tarbotton (5), Skerratt (1), MacMaster (3), VanCamp (3), Jeffrey. (1), Blakley (1). The Mark Blakley, Jason Whitworth and Dane Gray line also had a great night. Blakley contributed a hat trick (assists by and | Whitworth and Justynski) while Whitworth chipped in 2 of his own assists by Gray, Blakley, and Brownson. Steve Wygerde' and Chris Skerratt did a fine job on the Penalty killing unit. The Legionaires now await.the winner of the Lindsay & Stouffville match-up to determine their next playoff opponent. Come out and cheer these boys on. It's great hockey! (3) Teams battle to 3-3 tie , Novice League play resumed on January '27th at the Scngog Arena with Re/Max and VanCamp playing to a 3-3 tie. This was an excellent game with' strofig' two way performances, strong offense and splendid defense displayed by both teams. Goaltending was certainly a fagtor as both * Patrick Dunn (VanCamp) and Stewart Medford (Re/Max) played extremely well. David Stewart led the way for Re/Max with a goal and an assist. Re/Max opened the scoring at 57 seconds of the first period when Brent Meeking jammed home 'a rebound in a goal mouth scramble, assisted by Stewart. * VanCamp then scored 3 unanswered goals to finish off the first period. Brad Layzell tied the game with 5:18 left in the period, unassisted. 1 minute later Shawn. McNamara put VanCamp in the lead with a nice wrap-around from behind the net, assisted by Matt Morrison. Just before the period ended Michael Aldred scored unassisted. Re/Max kept chipping away with.a goal in the second period and their third was scored in the third period to tie the game. Scoring in the second for Re/Max was Norman Rooney with an assist going to James Hobbs. David Stewart scored unassisted in the third to tie the game. Other players playing well were Kyle Bowers, Tim Gibson, Josh Page, Haydon Fish for Re/Max; "kids, and Darren Black, Kale Thompson, Ken Britt, and* Thomas Cosgrove for VanCamp.
